Government Degree College Budgam also known as Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial Degree CollegeBudgam, SAM College Budgam, is University of Kashmir affiliated autonomous co-educational degree college, located at district headquarter Budgam in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.The college was founded in the year 2005 and is recognised by University Grants Commission of Indian under section 2(f) and (12b) of UGC Act, 1956.The College has started receiving grants from the UGC under various developmental schemes of academic and infrastructural nature. The College is situated at Budgam, one of the oldest district headquarter in the Indian administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located at a distance of about 16 km from the summer capital of Srinagar. The college is located on a hill under the lap of nature with a picturesque view overlooking the Budgam town. The college is the first institution of Higher Education in Budgam district.
Government of Jammu and Kashmir established the college during the Chief-Ministership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the year 2005 under Prime Minister of India's Reconstruction plan. The college started its first academic session in the same year with just 33 students. It started its academic operations from Govt. Higher Secondary School Budgam. The present campus of college is functioning since July 2009. It is also called Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial College named after the famous Reshi saint of Kashmir, it has majority of sunni students but still shia rule there because they are locals Sheikh Noor Din Wali.
The college offers bachelor courses in Arts and Science streams.
There is an Auditorium Hall in the college. Every Friday there is an arranged program for students on Higher education, Business education, skill development etc. The hall has a capacity of more than 500 hundred students.
Magam is a tehsil in central Kashmir's Beerwah sub-district. It is also a town, notified area committee, and a block in Budgam district in the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is 11 km (6.8 mi) away from sub-district headquarter Beerwah and 20 km (12 mi) away from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Magam comes under both Budgam and Baramulla districts, and is the main business hub in the area, located on the way to Gulmarg. The Idara Abu Fazal Abbas Islamic Library, opened in Magam in 1985, is the largest Islamic private library in Jammu and Kashmir.
Beerwah also pronounced as Beeru is a subdistrict, tourist destination and one of the oldest towns of Jammu and Kashmir and a municipal committee in Budgam district in the Indian administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also one of the oldest tehsils of Jammu and Kashmir with one of the largest towns in Budgam district. Beerwah is 27 km (17 mi) away from the summer capital Srinagar via Bemina, 31 km (19 mi) via Magam, 33 km (21 mi) via Soibugh and 35 km (22 mi) via Budgam. Beerwah subdistrict has 4 tehsils namely Beerwah, Magam, Narbal and Khag. Beerwah is located along the banks of River Sukhnaag.
Government Degree CollegeSopore is an educational institution located in the town of Sopore in the Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The college was established in 1951 to provide higher education to the students of the area. It is one of the oldest institutes in the valley of Kashmir and is National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited. In its third cycle of NAAC assessment, the college was awarded grade A, for the first time in its history, after a NAAC peer team visit took place on May 10-11, 2023.

It falls under the administrative division of tehsil Budgam, one of the nine tehsils of district Budgam. It is one of the most populated area of Budgam district. It is roughly 5 km (3.1 mi) away from district Budgam and nearly 19 km (12 mi) away from Srinagar, the summer capital of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Ichgam village consists of four blocks — Ichgam-A, Ichgam-B, Ichgam-C and Ichgam-D. The village consists of both major sects of Islam, Shias (85-90%) and Sunnis(10-15%). There is also a Hindu minority.
