Guandu Nature Park, also known as Kuantu Nature Park, (traditional Chinese :關渡自然公園; simplified Chinese :关渡自然公园; pinyin :Guāndù Zìrán Gōngyuán) is a park in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan.
The wetland within the area was saved from being turned into a stadium in 1996 due to the protest from civic groups. [1] After 10 years of planning, the nature park was established in 2001. [2] On 1 December 2001, the Taipei City Government trusted the Wild Bird Society of Taipei to manage the park. [3] On 2 February 2015, Legislative Yuan lawmakers toured the area after the successful passing of Wetlands Conservation Act to commemorate its achievement. [4]
The park spans over an area of 57 hectares in a low-laying area of Taipei Basin at the junction of Keelung River and Tamsui River. [5] It is divided into four areas, namely main area, core reserve area, outdoor observational area and sustainable management area. [6] The park primarily consists of freshwater ponds, brackish ponds, swamps, rice fields and mounds. [5]
The park is home to more than 830 animal species and around 230 bird species have been observed in the area. [7] This wetland is categorized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International. [8] [9]
The park features wooden trails, bird watching pavilions, nature center etc. The 2-story nature center serves as the information and education center of the park as well as exhibition center, research center and service center. The ground floor consists of auditorium, biological display, presentation room and gift shop. The upper floor consists of bird watching observatory, special exhibition area, classroom and refreshment area. It regularly holds guided tours, multimedia shows, special exhibitions, lectures, tutorials and consultations. [5]
The park regularly holds the annual Taipei International Bird-Watching Fair since 1999 and also the Guandu International Nature Art Festival. [7] [8]
The park is accessible with walking distance southeast of Guandu Station of Taipei Metro. [2]

The Central Catchment Nature Reserve is the largest nature reserve in Singapore, occupying 2880 hectares. Forming a large green lung in the geographical centre of the city, it houses several recreational sites, including the Singapore Zoo, the Night Safari and the River Safari, as well as several newer facilities built to encourage public appreciation of the reserve, such as the HSBC TreeTop Walk. The reserve sits within the boundaries of the Central Water Catchment. It is one of the four gazetted nature reserves in Singapore. Spittal Pond Nature Reserve is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Bermuda, located close to the Atlantic coast of Smith's Parish. Surrounding the third largest pond in Bermuda, Spittal Pond, it covers an area of 60 acres (24 ha). It is one of 13 parks or reserves managed by the Bermuda Department of Conservation Services which protects and conserves environmentally critical areas and habitats. The pond reserve, a wetland site, is one of the seven Ramsar Sites in Bermuda, which was approved on 10 May 1999 for the criteria of its unique characteristics such as its lagoon which is permanently brackish, ecology featuring wet grassland and mangrove forests, seasonal shorebirds, other ver run waterbirds and European eels. It is also home to many types of species mostly including birds.
The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks are a group of 20 metropolitan parks in and around Columbus, Ohio. They are officially organized into the Columbus and Franklin County Metropolitan Park District. The Metro Parks system was organized in 1945 under Ohio Revised Code Section 1545 as a separate political division of the state of Ohio. The Metro Parks are overseen by a Board of Park Commissioners consisting of three citizens appointed to three-year terms without compensation by the Judge of the Probate Court of Franklin County, Ohio. Black Pond Wildlife Management Area is a 526-acre (213 ha) New York State Wildlife Management Area (WMA) that lies on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, and at the northern limit of an unusual region of sandy barrier beaches and lagoons. Much of the barrier beach in Black Pond WMA has forested sand dunes that are about 60 feet (18 m) high; these are the highest sand dunes in the northeast United States excepting Cape Cod. Immediately north of the WMA is the 360-acre (150 ha) El Dorado Beach Preserve, which is a bird refuge owned by The Nature Conservancy. North of the outlet from Black Pond to Lake Ontario, the shoreline is a weathered, flat bedrock shelf that is "calcareous" instead of sandy.
The Suchindram Theroor Vembannur Wetland Complex is a protected area comprising the Suchindram Kulam wetlands at 8°7′30″N77°27′30″E, and the Theroor Kulam wetlands at 8°10′45″N77°27′45″E, and the Vembannur Wetland Complex, all near Suchindram town in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located between Nagercoil and Kanyakumari on the National Highway No. 47. Being at the extreme southern tip of India, this area underlies the southernmost continental range of the Central Asian Flyway. Constitution of this new wildlife sanctuary was proposed in 2002 and remains under consideration of the Government. International name is Suchindram Therur, Vembanoor, Important bird area code no. IN279, criteria: A1, A4i. Parts of the sanctuary have been designated as protected Ramsar sites since 2022.
The Central Asian Flyway (CAF), Central Asian-Indian Flyway, or Central Asian-South Asian Flyway is a flyway covering a large continental area of Eurasia between the Arctic Ocean and the Indian Ocean and the associated island chains. The CAF comprises several important migration routes of waterbirds, most of which extend from the northernmost breeding grounds in Siberia to the southernmost non-breeding wintering grounds in West Asia, India, the Maldives and the British Indian Ocean Territory.
