Guangzhou Nanfang International School (GNIS; simplified Chinese :广州南方国际学校; traditional Chinese :廣州南方國際學校; pinyin :Guǎngzhōu Nánfāng Guójì Xuéxiào; lit. : 'Southern Guangzhou International School') is an international school on the property of the South Industrial Park, [note 1] in Longdong [note 2] area of Tianhe District, Guangzhou. [1] The school serves ages 2.5 through 17, [2] in early years through secondary levels.

Contents

The school admits non-Mainland Chinese foreign students. Mainland Chinese students are eligible to attend if they have permanent residency in a country outside of Mainland China. [3]

History

The school opened in 2003 as the Guangzhou Nanhu International School [note 3] [3] [4] "Guangzhou South Lake International School"). [3]

Originally it was located in Baiyun District. [5] In 2008 it moved into a facility in central Tianhe, [3] located in The Greenery [note 4] . [6] [7] In 2014 the school moved into its current campus in Longdong and changed its name to its current one. [8]

Tianhe District is one of the eleven districts of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. In Chinese, the name Tianhe literally means "a river in the sky/heavens", which is also a Chinese name for the Milky Way. It is bordered by Yuexiu District on the west, Baiyun District on the north and Huangpu District on the east. Haizhu District is on its south, though they are separated by the Pearl River.

Tiyu Xilu station Guangzhou Metro interchange station

Tiyu Xilu Station is an interchange station on Line 1 and Line 3 of the Guangzhou Metro. It started operations on 28 June 1999 and 26 December 2005. It is situated under Tiyu Road West (体育西路) and Tianhe 1st South Road (天河南一路) in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou. It is near Teemall (天河城广场) and Guangzhou Books Center (广州购书中心), which makes it one of the busiest metro stations in Guangzhou.

Xichang Station, formerly Dongfeng Road West Station (东风西路站) during planning, is a station on Line 5 of the Guangzhou Metro. It is located under the junction of Huanshi Road West (环市西路) and Dongfeng Road West (东风西路) in the Liwan District of Guangzhou. Huanshi Road West is the main shopping area for shoes in the city. The station opened on 28 December 2009.

Zoo Station, formerly planned to be called "Guangzhou Zoo South Entrance Station" (动物园南门站), is a station on Line 5 of the Guangzhou Metro. The Pearl River Delta Metropolitan Region Intercity Railway System is a regional higher-speed rail and commuter rail network being gradually constructed in the Pearl River Delta, People's Republic of China. The project's goal is to have every major urban center in the Yuegang'ao Greater Bay Area to be within one-hour travel by rail to Guangzhou. On March 16, 2005, the State Council approved plans for a regional high-speed commuter rail network for the Jingjinji, Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. According to the plan, by 2020, the network will have a total route mileage of about 600 kilometres (370 mi). In September 2009, the plan was expanded to 1,478 km (918 mi) of routes split up into 23 lines. In the long term vision network length will reach 1,890 km (1,170 mi) by 2030. By then the network will provide basic coverage to the Pearl River Delta region. The Suishen ICR, Guanhui ICR and Guangfozhao ICR accept Alipay, avoiding the need to purchase tickets in advance.

The Japanese School of Guangzhou is a Japanese international school in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It was established in April 1995. On June 13, 1995 the Ministry of Education of China approved the establishment of the school.

Line 18 (Guangzhou Metro)

It will run in a south-north direction, connecting Wanqingsha in Nansha District, Panyu Square in Panyu District, Pazhou in Haizhu District, Zhujiang New Town and Guangzhou East railway station in Tianhe District.
