The tracks were lifted shortly after the line closed in 1952, though the station building survives as a private residence. The "Altcar Bob" service once operated through this station.

West Lancashire is a non-metropolitan district with the status of a borough in Lancashire, England. Its council is based in Ormskirk. The other town in the borough is Skelmersdale. The population of the District taken at the 2011 census was 110,685. The district was formed in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, as a merger of Ormskirk and Skelmersdale and Holland urban districts along with part of West Lancashire Rural District and part of the former Wigan Rural District.

The station closed to passengers on 26 September 1938 and the tracks were lifted shortly after the line closed in 1952.

The station opened in July 1906 as a halt on the Liverpool, Southport and Preston Junction Railway, and consisted of simple cinder based platforms at track level which required steps to be lowered from the coach for passenger access. It was situated to the south of the road bridge on Plex Moss Lane, to which it was connected by wooden steps. The station closed to passengers on 26 September 1938 and the tracks were lifted shortly after the line closed in 1952.

Halsall is a civil parish in the West Lancashire district of Lancashire, England. It contains 17 buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as designated listed buildings. Of these, one is listed at Grade I, the highest of the three grades, and the others are at Grade II, the lowest grade. The parish contains the villages of Halsall and Shirdley Hill, and is otherwise rural. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs through the parish, and the listed buildings associated with it are four bridges and a milestone. The other listed buildings include a church and structures in the churchyard, houses, a ha-ha, a ruined building, a boundary stone, and a war memorial.
Sabarimala Railway is a proposed 111 kilometres (69 mi) railway line from Angamaly to Erumeli, near Sabarimala that has been sanctioned in the year 1998 by Indian Railways. According to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Kerala State and the Ministry of Railways on January 27, 2016, commercially viable railway projects will be identified and handed over to the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be fast-tracked on a 51:49 per cent equity basis. SPV has discussed about the extension to Punalur. The currently proposed Sabarimala railway is under PMO - Pro active governs and timely implementation (Pragati); will be monitored by the Prime Minister's Office. Another proposal for this railway line is extend to Trivandrum Central. If this proposed Sabarimala railway is connected to proposed new railway terminal at Nemom near Trivandrum Central via Nedumangad, several long distance trains are supposed to be operated from Nemom Terminal via Punalur ,Nedumangad and Angamaly to Chennai/Bangalore and rest of country. Survey for new lines from Madurai Junction to Kottayam and Dindigul Junction to Cumbum lower camp, Kumily to Sabarimala, ettumanoor to pala also started.
