Hammond is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, Missouri, United States. [2] It is located at the intersection of two county roads on the Little North Fork of the White River, approximately twelve miles northwest of Gainesville and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southeast of Thornfield. [1] [3]
A post office called Hammond was established in 1894, and remained in operation until 1975. [4] Some say the community has the name of the local Hammond family, allegedly the original owners of the town site, while others believe it is unknown why the name "Hammond" was selected. [5]
Hammond is the site of the historic Hammond Mill. [6] [7] The mill was built in 1907 and served as a gristmill until around 1940. [6] The mill has since been restored as a private residence. [7] The townsite lies on the northeast side of a 1,300 feet (400 m) wide stream floodplain at an elevation of 744 feet (227 m) some 200 feet below the adjacent ridge tops. [1]

Buckhorn is a community in Pulaski County, Missouri, United States. It is on Route 17 just south of its junction with Interstate 44 It is also on historic U.S. Route 66. The community is within the Mark Twain National Forest and the northwest corner of Fort Leonard Wood is three miles to the east. Waynesville is six miles to the northeast along Route 44 and Laquey is two miles to the southwest off of Route 17.
Almartha is an unincorporated community in northern Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is located approximately thirteen miles north of Gainesville and four miles southeast of Wasola on Route 95. The village is located in a valley on a tributary of Spring Creek. Several homes are located there. The old mill and current fish hatchery of Rockbridge lies downstream on Spring Creek, about six miles to the east.

Thornfield is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is located 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Gainesville, on Route 95 at the Little North Fork of the White River on the edge of the Mark Twain National Forest between Wasola to the northeast and Longrun to the southwest. Hammond, the site of the historic Hammond Mill, lies on the Little North Fork 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southeast of Thornfield. Thornfield has a post office with ZIP code 65762.
Sycamore is an unincorporated community in eastern Ozark County in the Ozarks of southern Missouri, United States. It is located on Route 181, approximately fourteen miles northeast of Gainesville. The old townsite is located on a ridge on the west side of Bryant Creek, a major tributary of the North Fork River. The old Hodgson Mill and spring lie on Bryant Creek 0.8 mi (1.3 km) to the northeast. The mill was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places as Aid-Hodgson Mill in 2001.
Romance is an unincorporated community in Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is located approximately nine miles north of Gainesville. Romance is located in a valley at the confluence of two smaller streams with Ludecker Creek. It lies on state route Y, 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Missouri Route 5 and 2.3 miles (3.7 km) north of Willhoit. The Romance fire tower sits atop a knob at 1,490 feet (450 m), about 2.5 miles east.
Rockbridge is an unincorporated community in northern Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is the site of an old mill on spring-fed Spring Creek, a tributary of Bryant Creek, which still houses the post office. It lies twelve miles north of Gainesville on Missouri Route N, approximately one-half miles north of Route 95. The narrow valley floor is only about 650 feet (200 m) wide and at an elevation of 770 feet (230 m) and the Ozark ridges on either side are 200 to 250 feet higher.

Brixey is a former unincorporated community in northern Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is located 1.6 miles (2.6 km) south of Route 95 on Route N or approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of Gainesville. The store and post office, along with houses along the main road, have been vacant and boarded up for several years as of 2023; there may still be a home or two within the community limits on the back roads, as the Brixeyj name and zip code is still in use for mailings.
Smallett is an unincorporated community in southern Douglas County, Missouri, United States. It is located approximately nine miles south of Ava and is located on Missouri Supplemental Route A. It previously had its own post office from 1888-1967 with ZIP code 65750, but mail is now served by the post office in Ava. Some say Smallett was named for its first postmaster, James Small, while others believe the name honors another early settler.
Foil is an unincorporated community in northern Ozark County, Missouri, United States. It is located approximately sixteen miles south of Ava on county roads 953 and 955. Wasola is about four miles northeast on Missouri Route 5 and Thornfield approximately three miles southwest on Missouri Route JJ. The community is on the banks of Little Creek, a tributary of Little North Fork White River.
