Helm Glöckler (13 January 1909 in Frankfurt am Main – 18 December 1993 same place) was a German amateur racing driver.

Glöckler raced a Deutsch-Bonnet in Formula 3 in 1951, and won the sports car racing event at the 1953 Eifelrennen with a new Porsche 550. [1]

He also won the sports car class Alpine Cup trophy in the 1951 Österreichische Alpenfahrt rally driving a highly modified Renault 4CV. [2]

He entered the 1953 German Grand Prix in an Equipe Anglaise Cooper, this being his one and only attempt at a World Championship race, but he blew his engine during qualifying and so did not compete in the race. Had he qualified for the race, he would be the first ever driver to use number 0 in a Formula One race, twenty years before Jody Scheckter became the first to race in number 0 at the 1973 Canadian Grand Prix.

He raced a Porsche 550 in the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans with Hans Herrmann, and again in the 1954 24 Hours of Le Mans with Richard von Frankenberg.

Until recently, Helm Glöckler GmbH in Frankfurt bore his name, running a motorcycle dealer and workshop, and other enterprises.

Family

Glöckler's cousin Walter created the small Porsche powered spyder in 1951 that later inspired the factory to produce the Porsche 550. [1]

Porsche 550

The Porsche 550 was a racing sports car produced by Porsche from 1953 to 1956. In that time only 90 Porsche 550s were produced, but it quickly established dominance in the 1.1- and 1.5- liter classes. The Porsche 550 is a mid-engine car with an air-cooled four-cylinder engine, following the precedent of the 1948 Porsche 356/1 prototype designed by Ferry Porsche. The mid-engine racing design was further developed with Porsche's 718 model; its advantages led to it becoming the dominant design for top-level racing cars by the mid-1960s.

Pedro Rodríguez (racing driver) Mexican racecar driver

Pedro Rodríguez de la Vega was a Mexican Grand Prix motor racing driver. He was the older brother of Ricardo Rodríguez. His most notable successes were in Formula One, where he won the 1967 South African Grand Prix driving a Cooper-Maserati and the 1970 Belgian Grand Prix in a BRM, and in the World Sportscar Championship where he was a principal Porsche factory driver in winning both the 1970 and 1971 titles. Gérard Larrousse

Gérard Gilles Marie Armand Larrousse is a former sports car racing, rallying and Formula One driver from France. After the end of his career as racing car driver, he continued to be involved in Formula One as a team manager for Renault. Peter Whitehead (racing driver) English racing driver

Peter Nield Whitehead was a British racing driver. He was born in Menston, Yorkshire and was killed in an accident at Lasalle, France, during the Tour de France endurance race. A cultured, knowledgeable and well-travelled racer, he was excellent in sports cars. He won the 1938 Australian Grand Prix, which along with a 24 Heures du Mans win in 1951, probably was his finest achievement, but he also won two 12 Heures internationales de Reims events. Ecurie Francorchamps was a Belgian motor racing team. They are principally known for running privateer cars in Formula One and sports car racing during the 1950s and 1970s. The team was founded by racing driver Jacques Swaters. Between 1952 and 1954 Ecurie Francorchamps raced in Formula One, and raced in sports cars into the 1970s.
