Henrik Edward Larsson is a Swedish professional football manager and former player, who currently serves as an assistant manager of Barcelona. Playing as a striker, Larsson began his career with Högaborgs BK. In 1992, he moved to Helsingborg IF where in his first season his partnership up front with Mats Magnusson helped the club win promotion to Allsvenskan after 24 seasons in the lower tiers. He moved to Feyenoord in November 1993, staying for four years before leaving in 1997. During his time in the Dutch Eredivisie, he won two KNVB Cups with Feyenoord. He also broke into the Swedish national football team, and helped them finish in third place at the 1994 World Cup.
Helsingborg is a town and the seat of Helsingborg Municipality, Scania, Sweden. It had 108,334 inhabitants in 2017. Helsingborg is the centre of the northern part of western Scania and Sweden's closest point to Denmark: the Danish city Helsingør is clearly visible about 4 km (2 mi) to the west on the other side of the Øresund. The HH Ferry route across the sound has more than 70 car ferry departures from each harbour every day.

Helsingborgs IF, commonly referred to as Helsingborg, or HIF, is a Swedish professional football club located in Helsingborg. They played in the Swedish second tier, Superettan in 2018, but were promoted to Allsvenskan ahead of the 2019 season. Formed in 1907, the club has won five national championship titles and five national cup titles. Helsingborgs IF have also won Allsvenskan on two occasions when the title of Swedish champions was not decided by the outcome of that league.
Roland Nilsson is a Swedish football manager. As a player, Nilsson played 116 games for Sweden, making him the sixth most capped player in the Swedish national team. He also won the UEFA Cup and played in the semi-finals of the World Cup, the European Championships, and the European Cup during a playing career lasting over two decades. He won his first major honour as a manager in 2010 with Malmö FF when the team won Allsvenskan. On 1 April 2011 Copenhagen confirmed Nilsson as the club's new manager to replace Ståle Solbakken who left Copenhagen to become manager of 1. FC Köln in the summer of 2011. Nilsson joined Copenhagen on 1 June 2011 but was sacked after six months on 9 January 2012.

Christoffer Tobias Andersson is a Swedish former professional football player who played as a defender and midfielder. Andersson is best remembered for his time with Helsingborgs IF, for which he played more than 500 official games. He also represented Lillestrøm SK, Hannover 96, and Halmstads BK.
Lars Hening Joel Ekstrand is a Swedish former footballer who played as a defender. He has represented Sweden at senior international level and at various youth levels.
Carl Albin Dahl was a Swedish association footballer who played as a striker. He competed in the 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics and finished in fifth and third place, respectively. Together with his elder brother Harry he came from neighbouring town Landskrona to the larger Helsingborg, and represented Helsingborgs IF. The brother did though return to Landskrona BoIS after only one year. Albin continued his career in Helsingborg until the 1932–33 season. He contributed to Helsingborgs IF winning Allsvenskan, the top tier of Swedish football, three times 1929–30, 1930–31 and 1932–33. He later became manager in several clubs around Helsingborg.

The 2011 Allsvenskan, part of the 2011 Swedish football season, was the 87th season of Allsvenskan since its establishment in 1924. The preliminary 2011 fixtures were released on 15 December 2010. The season began on 2 April 2011 and ended on 23 October 2011. Malmö FF were the defending champions, having won their 16th Swedish championship and their 19th Allsvenskan title the previous season.
The fixture between Helsingborgs IF and Malmö FF is a local derby in Scania, Sweden and a fierce rivalry. The derby does not have a common name, any derby in Scania is usually called a "Skånederby", the fixture is sometimes referred to as Slaget om Skåne. The rivalry has arisen because the two clubs are the most historically successful clubs in Scania and also come from the two most populous cities in Scania. The two clubs have also played most seasons in the top tier league Allsvenskan of all Scanian clubs and they are also the only Scanian clubs to have won the Swedish football championship, Malmö FF with 20 titles and Helsingborgs IF with 5 titles. In the early days of Swedish club football before the time of national league play the two clubs often faced each other in the final of the regional championship "Distriktmästerskapet". The clubs have also faced each other in Svenska Cupen and Supercupen. The majority of all matches between the two clubs have taken place in Allsvenskan. The rivalry temporarily died out between 1968 and 1993 when they weren't playing in the same league, Helsingborgs IF had been relegated from Allsvenskan and spent 23 season in lower leagues while Malmö FF played in Allsvenskan. In 2016, Helsingborgs IF were relegated from the top tier once again. They returned to Allsvenskan in 2019 after two seasons in Superettan. Malmö FF also had a one year stint in Superettan in 2000.

The season started on 31 March 2012 and ended on 4 November 2012. There was a five-week-long break between 24 May and 30 June during the UEFA Euro 2012. Helsingborgs IF were the defending champions, having won their fifth Swedish championship and their seventh Allsvenskan title the previous season.
Svenska Supercupen 2012, Swedish Super Cup 2012, was the 6th Svenska Supercupen, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen competitions. The match was played at Olympia, Helsingborg, on 24 March 2012, and was contested by league winners Helsingborgs IF and runners-up AIK. AIK qualified for the cup as Allsvenskan runners-up since Helsingborg won both the league and Svenska Cupen in 2011. The match was Helsingborgs third appearance and AIKs second in Svenska Supercupen since its creation. Olympia hosted the final for the first time and the two clubs played against each other for the first time in the cup's history.

The most high-profile fixture in the region is the rivalry between Helsingborgs IF and Malmö FF. Historically, the rivalry between the two clubs and Landskrona BoIS is also well known. Additional Scanian football clubs that are playing in the upper three tiers of Swedish football are Trelleborgs FF, Eskilsminne IF, Lunds BK, and Torns IF. Two cities have more than one club in the top three tiers: Helsingborg with HIF and Eskilsminne IF, and Lund with Lunds BK and Torns IF.
