Henry Robert McAdoo (10 January 1916 10 December 1998) was a Church of Ireland clergyman.

He was born in Cork and educated at Cork Grammar School and Mountjoy School in Dublin. [1] He studied modern languages (French and Irish) in Trinity College Dublin, was scholar in 1936 and graduated in 1938. [2]

He was ordained as a deacon in 1939 and as a priest in 1940. He was the incumbent of Castleventry with Ardfield from 1943 to 1948, with Kilmeen from 1947 to 1948, Rector of Kilmocomogue and Rural Dean of Glansalney West and Bere from 1948 to 1952 and Canon of Kilbrittain in Cork Cathedral, and Canon of Donoughmore in Cloyne Cathedral from 1949 to 1952. [1] He served as Dean of Cork 1952–62, Dean of Leighlin, 1962–63; Bishop of Ossory, Ferns and Leighlin 1962–77 and Archbishop of Dublin 1977–85.[ citation needed ]

He was the first Anglican co-chairman of the Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission. His time as archbishop was cut short by ill-health and he resigned in 1985.[ citation needed ]

He died on 10 December 1998 at Dalkey, County Dublin [3] and was buried at Kilkenny. He had married Lesley Weir, with whom he had a son and two daughters. [1]

Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin

The Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin is the senior official of that church, the cathedral of the United Diocese of Dublin and Glendalough in the Church of Ireland, and head of the Chapter, its governing body. A Dean has presided over Christ Church Cathedral since around 1539, before which the cathedral was a Priory under Augustinian rules, headed by a Prior, back to the time of Archbishop St. Laurence O'Toole. Aspects of the cathedral administration are overseen by the Cathedral Board, which the Dean chairs.

The Archbishop of Dublin is the title of the senior cleric who presides over the Archdiocese of Dublin. The Church of Ireland has a similar role, heading the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough. In both cases, the Archbishop is also Primate of Ireland. The Archbishop has his seat at Saint Mary's Pro-Cathedral, though formally Dublin's cathedral is still Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin as recognised by the Holy See. Since December 29, 2020, the position has been vacant, as Diarmuid Martin having resigned after turning 75, as canon law required of him. Bishop of Ossory Dermot Farrell is scheduled to be installed as the new Archbishop of Dublin on February 2, 2021.

Arthur Price was Church of Ireland Archbishop of Cashel from 1744 until his death. Previously he had been Church of Ireland Bishop of Clonfert (1724–1730), Ferns and Leighlin (1730–1734) and Meath (1734–1744).

John Gregg (archbishop of Armagh)

John Allen Fitzgerald Gregg CH (1873–1961) was a Church of Ireland clergyman, from 1915 Bishop of Ossory, Ferns and Leighlin, in 1920 translated to become Archbishop of Dublin, and finally from 1939 until 1959 Archbishop of Armagh. He was also a theologian and historian.

John Parker DD was a Church of Ireland clergyman who came to prominence after the English Restoration, first as Bishop of Elphin, then as Archbishop of Tuam and finally as Archbishop of Dublin and Primate of Ireland.

The Dean of Leighlin is based at the Cathedral Church of St Laserian, Old Leighlin in the united Diocese of Cashel and Ossory within the Church of Ireland.

Randolph Barlow, was made Pembroke College fellow at Cambridge University in 1593; attained Master of Arts in 1594; awarded Doctor of Divinity in 1600; took holy orders and later served in the Church of Ireland as the Archbishop of Tuam from 1629 to 1638.
