The Iglesia Ni Cristo Locale of Tayuman (Filipino : Lokal ng Tayuman) is a chapel of the Philippine-based Christian sect, the Iglesia ni Cristo. Located in Apitong Street near Tayuman Street in Santa Cruz, Manila, it was completed on November 7, 1977, and was dedicated by Brother Erano Manalo. It is the birthplace of Various Christian Family Organizations of the Church and one of the most Historical Congregations within the Church. Designed by famed architect Carlos A. Santos-Viola, the church administration had to replace the Iron and Wood Structure on the same Location.

History

The chapel was erected 63 years after the establishment of the original house of worship of the Locale of Tondo on Gabriela Street in 1915, which was made from nipa and bamboo. When this chapel gutted by Fire in 1926, the congregation was divided into Four Places of Worship namely Dagupan, Raxabago, Rivera and Apitong which is the Original Congregation. The Apitong Congregation was renamed as Locale of Tayuman which is named after nearby main Road. It became Separate Congregation on its own.

Birthplace of Christian Family Organizations (1919 - 1941)

Tayuman Congregation witnessed the Birth of Children's Worship Services (Filipino : Pagsamba ng Kabataan) in 1919. The First organization for youth was founded in 1936 named Tambuli ng Silangan which is the Predecessor of Binhi Organization founded in 1973 in same Locale. Kapisanan ng Maligayang Pagtatagumpay was founded in 1953 in Tayuman, which becames KADIWA Organization in 1973 which are all single adult from 18 and above. In 1965 Buklod Organization was established in said Congregation which members are Married Couples of the Church.

War Period (1941 - 1947)

The Locale witnessed hardships during the Second World War. One of the worship services leaded by Brother Felix Y. Manalo was Distracted by Japanese Soldiers to Stop the worship service but Brother Manalo continued preaching from dais even the Japanese attempts to kill him and attending the Worship Service. The Japanese soldiers miraculously sat Down and down their Bayonets while Listening to Worship Service. Also during the War Period, Tayuman Congregation becames the Temporary Central Office and it became it's Parsonage for Executive Minister's family that Time.

1946 to Present

After the War, in 1946 Brother Eraño Manalo was Ordained by his Father to become Minister in Church. The Central Office was relocated in San Juan and Tayuman Becomes the Division Office for Manila Division (Now Ecclesiastical District of Manila). However, in 1970s, the Increase of Growing Brethren and Overcrowding of Old Wood and Iron Chapel. the Church Administration decided to build Concrete House of Worship. The Chapel was Dedicated in November 7, 1977 officiated by Bro. Eraño.G. Manalo.

Eraño Manalo Filipino minister

Eraño de Guzman Manalo, also known as Ka Erdy, was the second Executive Minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), serving from April 19, 1963 until August 31, 2009. He took over the administration of the church after the death of his father, Felix Y. Manalo, in 1963. He was instrumental in the propagation and expansion of the church internationally. He previously held office as the General Treasurer of the Church, and as a District Minister of Manila.

At Present Tayuman celebrated its Centennial in 2015, thus making one of the oldest Congregations of the Church. Offshoot Locale Congregation was formed namely: Bambang and Blumentritt in response of Growing Brethren in Said Congregation.
