Dona Maria Francisca, Duchess of Coimbra (born 3 March 1997) is the second child of Duarte Pio, Duke of Braganza, Head of the House of Braganza. Maria Francisca is titled as Duchess of Coimbra.
Maria Francisca Isabel Micaela Gabriela Rafaela Paula was born on 3 March 1997, in Lisbon, as the second child of the Duke and the Duchess of Braganza. Her full name ends with Micaela Gabriela Rafaela, a naming tradition of the House of Braganza that honors the three archangels in the Catholic Church.[ citation needed ]
Her godparents were her paternal uncle Infante Henrique, Duke of Coimbra, and her second cousin Princess Marie of Orléans, Princess of Liechtenstein.[ citation needed ]
As of 2018, the Duchess of Coimbra has been studying Social and Cultural Communication at the Catholic University of Portugal. [1]
On 4 July 2018, feast day of Saint Isabel of Portugal, Maria Francisca was invested as Duchess of Coimbra by her father, in a ceremony that took place in the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova, in Coimbra, therefore succeeding to the title of her deceased uncle, Infante Henrique, Duke of Coimbra. [2]
In the same ceremony, she was invested as a Dame of the Order of Saint Isabel, by her mother.[ citation needed ]

The Most Serene House of Braganza, also known as the Brigantine Dynasty, is a dynasty of emperors, kings, princes, and dukes of Portuguese origin which reigned in Europe and the Americas.
DomDuarte Nuno, Duke of Braganza was the claimant to the defunct Portuguese throne, as both the Miguelist successor of his father, Miguel, Duke of Braganza, and later as the head of the only Brigantine house, after the death of the last Legitimist Braganza, King Manuel II of Portugal. In 1952, when the Portuguese Laws of Banishment were repealed, the Duke moved his family to Portugal, thus returning the Miguelist Braganzas to their homeland and becoming the first of the former Portuguese royal dynasty to live in Portugal since the deposition of the monarchy, in 1910.
