The Tijuana Cartel or Arellano-Félix Organization is a Mexican drug cartel based in Tijuana. The cartel once was described as "one of the biggest and most violent criminal groups in Mexico." However, since the 2006 Sinaloa Cartel incursion in Baja California and the fall of the Arellano-Félix brothers, the Tijuana Cartel has been reduced to a few cells. In 2016, the organization has become known as Cartel Tijuana Nueva Generación and has begun to align itself under the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, along with Beltrán Leyva Organization (BLO) to create an anti-Sinaloa alliance, in which the Jalisco New Generation Cartel heads, creating a possible powershift in Mexico.
Border Field State Park is a state park of California, United States, containing beach and coastal habitat on the Mexico–United States border. The 2009 CONCACAF U17 Championship was the football championship tournament for under-17 in the CONCACAF region, and was formatted to determine the four CONCACAF representatives to advance to the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. The 8-team tournament was originally scheduled to be played from April 21 to May 2 and hosted by Mexico at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana. However, the tournament was cancelled on April 27 due to the swine flu outbreak in Mexico. At the time that the tournament was cancelled the group stage had already been played, and the four teams who could qualify to the U-17 World Cup – Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, and the United States – had already done so.
The Tijuana Cimarrones were a professional independent baseball franchise based in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. They were originally a minor league baseball team in Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, but joined the Golden Baseball League as an expansion team in 2009. The team started play at Estadio Nacional de Tijuana in 2010, which was the last year of play for the Golden Baseball League. In 2011, the Golden League and two others consolidated to form the North American League, but the Cimarrones did not participate in that league.
