Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the second longest operational metro network in India with an operational length of 73.75 kilometers, just behind Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the 66 operational metro stations of Namma Metro as of October 2023, there are 57 elevated stations, eight underground stations and one at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.
The Pink Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 21.25 km (13.20 mi) line connects Kalena Agrahara station on Bannerghatta Road in the south with Nagawara station on Outer Ring Road in the north. The Pink Line is mostly underground but also has a 6.98 km (4.34 mi) elevated section and a 0.48 km (0.30 mi) at-grade (surface) section. There are 18 stations on the line, including 12 underground and 6 elevated ones. Pink Line will have an interchange with the Purple Line at MG Road station. It will also have interchanges with the Yellow line at Jayadeva Hospital station and with the Blue Line at Nagawara. Both these lines are under construction. The entire line is planned to open at the end of March 2025.
The Yellow Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 18.82 km (11.69 mi) line connects R.V. Road with Bommasandra and is fully elevated with 16 stations. R.V. Road station is the terminal station on the city side where an interchange is being provided with the Green Line. Jayadeva Hospital station will serve as another elevated interchange station with the Pink Line that is also under construction in Phase ll of Namma Metro's expansion. Upon its opening, Jayadeva Station will be the tallest and largest metro station in Bengaluru, with 5 levels of transport, including the metro lines. Central Silk Board station will be another interchange station between the Yellow Line and Blue Line. The other end of the Yellow Line will terminate at Bommasandra. The line was scheduled to open in June 2023, but due to construction delays, it was scheduled around July 2024. But now as per latest reports, the Yellow Line will be operational from November 2024. This postpone has been attributed to delay in delivery of coaches from China.
The Blue Line or ORR-Airport Metro Line is part of the Namma Metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It consists of two sections - Phase-2A and Phase-2B. Construction of Phase-2A began in August 2021. Construction of Phase-2B began in February 2022. The 58.19 km line connects Central Silk Board with the Kempegowda International Airport. The Line is mostly elevated but also has an at-grade (surface) section close to the Airport and 2 short underground sections where it passes the Jakkur Aerodrome and Yelahanka AFB. There are 30 stations on the line of which the two station/s at the Airport may be at surface level or underground. Blue Line will have interchanges with the Yellow Line at Central Silk Board, Purple Line at KR Pura, Pink Line at Nagawara and with the future /proposed Orange Line at Hebbal.
Jayadeva Hospital is an upcoming double-elevated interchange metro station on the North-South corridor of the Yellow Line and Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station will be the first multi-elevated interchange metro station in the Namma Metro network. This metro station is named after the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research which is located nearby and serves MICO Layout (BTM), Guruppanpalya, Jayanagar and JP Nagar 3rd Phase.
Kalena Agrahara is an upcoming elevated southern terminal metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station serves residential properties and a few other locations including Prestige Elysian, Holy Spirit School (ICSE), Doddakammanahalli suburban area and Decathlon. This metro station is stated to become operational around Q4 of 2024 / March 2025.
Hulimavu is an upcoming elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station serves mainly the Christ University, and the nearby prime locations such as Royal Meenakshi Mall, Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwara Temple, Hulimavu Police Station and Kothanur Metro Depot, which will handle all the Pink Line trainsets for maintenance purposes. This metro station is stated to become operational around March 2025.
Tavarekere is an upcoming elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. Around this metro station holds the main Tavarekere Park followed by some prime locations like Byransandra Lake Park, Sagar Hospitals (Jayanagar) and the famous Dairy Circle Flyover which leads towards Nexus Mall (Koramangala) in the east and towards Lal Bagh in the west. This metro station is stated to become operational around Q4 of 2024 / March 2025.
Dairy Circle is an upcoming underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India with plans to make an interchange with the proposed Red Line. This metro station consists of the main Dairy Circle Flyover where to the east leads towards Silk Board junction and Christ University, to the west leads towards NIMHANS Hospital, Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health Hospital, to the north leads towards Bosch, Karnataka Federal Foundation and to the south leads towards Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, a Healthcare Institute in South Bengaluru. This metro station is slated to become operational around March 2025.
National Military School is an upcoming underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station consists of prime locations such as the Richmond Park, Karnataka State Hockey Association, Bengaluru Football Stadium along with other important locations like the Shoolay Circle connecting Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium to the west side and M G Road, Bangalore to the east side. This metro station is stated to become operational around March 2025.
Shivaji Nagar is an upcoming important underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station will consist of the main Shivajinagar neighbourhood having the main Shivajinagara Bus Terminus leading towards many prime locations like Kempegowda (Majestic) Bus Station, Bagalur, Yelahanka and Hebbal. This also includes other prime locations such as Commercial Street, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Karnataka State Cricket Association and St. Mary's Basilica. Cubbon Park will be the alternative metro station coming under Purple Line. This metro station is stated to become operational around March 2025.
Cantonment Railway Station is an upcoming important underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station will consist of the main Bengaluru Cantonment railway station for passengers heading towards the city, Kengeri, Krishnarajapuram, Hosur or Bangarapet Junction.
