Singh joined Mayo College in Ajmer in 1989, serving as a housemaster and later as the school's vice principal. He left Mayo in April 2011 to become headmaster of the Punjab Public School (PPS) in Nabha, Punjab. [1] [2] At PPS, Singh pursued a holistic education strategy, mandating artistic and athletic activities in addition to academic work. [3] [4] [5] During this time, he was also elected Chairman of the Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC), a sports league of independent schools partially modelled on the Ivy League in the United States. In 2013, he was one of four Indian educators to win the Derozio Award, conferred by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for major contributions to education. [6] In 2019, Singh was invited to an education summit organised by the Government of Punjab in Chandigarh, to discuss education goals for the city. [7] [8] In April 2020, Singh was appointed the eleventh headmaster of The Doon School in Dehradun, after Matthew Raggett resigned in January 2020. In October 2020, Singh appeared on NDTV's Swasthyamantra project, which explored the subject of sex education in India. [9]

The Doon School is an all-boys academically selective boarding school in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, which was established in 1935. It was envisioned by Satish Ranjan Das, a Kolkata lawyer, who prevised a school modelled on the British public school, but conscious of Indian ambitions and desires. The school admitted its first pupils on 10 September 1935, and formally opened on 27 October 1935, with Lord Willingdon presiding over the ceremony. The school's first headmaster was Arthur E. Foot, an Englishman who had spent nine years as a science master at Eton College, England.

Matthew Jonathan Raggett is an educator, writer and the former Headmaster of The Doon School, the all-boys boarding school in Dehradun, India. He succeeded Peter McLaughlin in 2016, becoming the tenth headmaster of the school. Raggett left Doon in January 2020 and returned to Germany. He was the fourth Englishman in Doon's history to head the school and was a member of The Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference, UK. Jagpreet Singh succeeded him as headmaster, and joined the school in June 2020.
