The Blues is a New Zealand professional rugby union team based in Auckland, New Zealand who play in the Super Rugby competition. Like New Zealand's four other Super Rugby teams, the Blues were established by the NZRU in 1996. One of the most successful teams in Super Rugby history, the Blues won the competition in its first two seasons, 1996 and 1997, and again in 2003. Additionally, the team were finalists in 1998 and semi-finalists in 2007 and 2011.
Tony Dale Woodcock is a New Zealand former rugby union player. His position was loosehead prop, and he played 111 tests for the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. Woodcock played for the All Blacks from 2002 to 2015, scoring eight test tries. He was described by The Dominion Post as "widely regarded as the world's premier loosehead", and by The New Zealand Herald as having the "best range of skills of any prop on the planet". He is now the most capped All Black prop of all time, and is the second most capped player in Blues history, behind Keven Mealamu. He was a key member of the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup winning squads, becoming one of only 20 players to have won multiple Rugby World Cups.
Jerome Kaino is a New Zealand rugby union player. He currently plays flanker and number eight for Stade Toulousain in the Top 14. In 2004, he was named IRB International Under-21 player of the year. In 2011, he was named the New Zealand Rugby player of the year, finishing ahead of Richie McCaw and Ma'a Nonu in the voting. He is a key member of 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup winning teams, becoming one of only 20 players to have won multiple Rugby World Cups. Kaino is considered by many to be one of the game's greats.

Matthew David Duffie is a New Zealand professional rugby footballer who plays rugby union for the Blues in Super Rugby. He previously played rugby league with the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League and was a part of their under-20s Premiership winning team in 2009, scoring 25 tries. On 1 May 2011, he was selected for the New Zealand national rugby league team for the 2011 ANZAC Test. In October 2017, Duffie was named in the All Blacks for their end-of-year tour, becoming a dual-code rugby international.
Sio Julian Tevita Savea is a New Zealand rugby union player. He currently plays wing for Toulon in the Top 14. Savea formerly played for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby, and is a former captain of the Wellington Lions in the Mitre 10 Cup. Between 2012 and 2017 he won 54 caps for New Zealand.
Francis Saili is a New Zealand rugby union player. He plays primarily as a centre, though he can also play wing. He is the younger brother of Blues loose forward Peter Saili.
Quentin Joseph Reuben William Jordan MacDonald is a New Zealand rugby union player. He played for the Chiefs in Super Rugby and Tasman Makos in the ITM Cup. He previously represented the Crusaders and Blues in Super Rugby. MacDonald plays as a hooker. He is currently playing his rugby for Oyonnax in France.
Bryn Desmond Hall is a New Zealand rugby union player who currently plays as a halfback for North Harbour in New Zealand's domestic Mitre 10 Cup and the Crusaders in the international Super Rugby competition.
Jamison Gibson-Park is an Irish-qualified New Zealand Rugby Union player who plays as a halfback. He represented Taranaki in the ITM Cup. He made his provincial debut in 2012 and his strong performances saw him named in the Blues squad for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Super Rugby seasons. He currently plays for Leinster Rugby in Ireland, after playing for the Wellington-based Super Rugby franchise the Hurricanes. Gibson-Park has international experience with the Māori All Blacks.
Nepo Eti Laulala is a New Zealand rugby union footballer who plays as a Tighthead Prop for Counties Manukau Steelers in the Mitre 10 Cup, the Chiefs in Super Rugby and for the national All Blacks, having made his international debut in 2015. He was a member of New Zealand's 2019 Rugby World Cup squad and has been a regular starter for New Zealand since 2017. Laulala has yet to score any points for New Zealand in his international career.
