The Services cricket team plays in the Ranji Trophy, the main domestic first-class cricket competition in India. Under the auspices of the Services Sports Control Board, they represent the Indian Armed Forces.
The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a cricket team based in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, run by JKCA. It is in the Elite Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium is a cricket stadium located in Srinagar. It is home to the JKCA and Jammu and Kashmir cricket team which represents the Indian administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments in the country. National Cricket Academy is currently constructing an indoor complex at the stadium.

The North Zone women's cricket team is a women's first-class cricket team that represents northern India in the Inter Zone Women's Three Day Competition. It is a composite team of players from five teams from northern India: Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. They were formed in 1974–75 to play in the Rani Jhansi Trophy, which they competed in until 2002–03, when the competition ended. They then competed in the Inter Zone Women's One Day Competition, which they won once, in 2011–12, and now compete in the Inter Zone Three Day Competition, where they are the current holders, winning the 2017–18 tournament.
The 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy was the 16th season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a List A cricket tournament in India. It was contested by the 28 domestic cricket teams of India. The following seven teams were drawn in Group D: Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Saurashtra, Services and Vidarbha. Akhtar has represented the Punjab Cricket Team since 2013 in the women's national level cricket tournaments organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. She became the first woman cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected for the India women's national cricket team. In January 2019, she was named in India Red's team for the 2018–19 Senior Women's Challenger Trophy. Jasia Akhtar was part of the IPL Trailblazers team in Women's T20 Challenge led by Smriti Mandhana in 2019.
Popular sports in Jammu and Kashmir include cricket, football and winter sports along with sports like golf, water sports, Ice stock sport and adventure sports. The National Winter Games have been held in Gulmarg in 1996, 2004 and 2008. The first Khelo India Winter Games were held in February and March 2020 in Leh and Gulmarg. Jammu and Kashmir won the most gold medals while the Indian Army team came second with 8 gold medals. The second edition of the winter games were also held successfully in Gulmarg in 2020 with Jammu and Kashmir coming first and Karnataka second.
