Magazin is a Croatian pop band from Split. Founded in 1979 under the name Dalmatinski magazin, the band quickly began to make a mark on local pop music festivals with its songs influenced by Dalmatian folk music. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Andrea Šušnjara, guitarist Željko Baričić and bass guitarist Nenad Vesanović Keko. Baričić is the only active founding member even though Vesanović featured on every album to date.

Jelena Rozga is a Croatian pop, folk, and electropop singer. Born and raised in Split, Croatia, Rozga was a ballet dancer as a child. She rose to fame in 1996, when she became the lead singer of Magazin, a pop band famous in Croatia. She served as the band's lead singer until 2006, releasing a total of five studio albums. During the ten years, the band released numerous commercially and critically successful singles including "Ginem", "Minut' srca tvog" and "Minus i plus" among others.

Serbia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Oro" written by Željko Joksimović and Dejan Ivanović. The song was performed by Jelena Tomašević featuring Bora Dugić. In addition to participating in the contest, the Serbian national broadcaster, Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest after winning the competition in 2007 with the song "Molitva" performed by Marija Šerifović. RTS organised the national final Beovizija 2008 in order to select the Serbian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade. The national final consisted of two shows: a semi-final and a final on 9 and 10 March 2008, respectively. Twenty entries competed in the semi-final where the top ten qualified to the final following the combination of votes from a three-member jury panel and a public televote. The ten qualifiers competed in the final which resulted in "Oro" performed by Jelena Tomašević featuring Bora Dugić as the winner following the combination of votes from a three-member jury panel and a public televote.

The team's major sponsor, Cylance, was a high-tech computer security firm, and the team was owned by Inspire Sports whose founder, Omer Kem, previously managed BMW p/b Happy Tooth Dental and Bissell Pro Cycling. Bižuterija is the second studio album by Croatian singer Jelena Rozga. It was released on 15 July 2011, by Hit Records and Tonika Records. As with the singer's previous album Oprosti Mala (2006), most songs from the album were written by the duo Tonči Huljić and Vjekoslava Huljić. All songs were produced by Remi Kazinoti and saw new collaborations, with Edo Botrić, Pero Kozomara and Robert Pilepić. Bižuterija was commercially successful in Croatia where it peaked at number one on the Croatian Albums Chart and received a gold certification by the Croatian Phonographic Industry for sales over 15.000 copies. The album was also critically well received by music critics who saw it as a turning point in her career and an evolution of her sound.
