John Adams Bliss (February 13,1843 - 1925) served in the California State Assembly for the 50th district from 1899 to 1907 [2] and during the American Civil War he served in the United States Army. [3]
John Quincy Adams was an American statesman,politician,diplomat,lawyer,and diarist who served as the sixth president of the United States,from 1825 to 1829. He previously served as the eighth United States secretary of state from 1817 to 1825. During his long diplomatic and political career,Adams served as an ambassador and also as a member of the United States Congress representing Massachusetts in both chambers. He was the eldest son of John Adams,who served as the second president of the United States from 1797 to 1801,and First Lady Abigail Adams. Initially a Federalist like his father,he won election to the presidency as a member of the Democratic-Republican Party,and later,in the mid-1830s,became affiliated with the Whig Party.
Ansel Easton Adams was an American landscape photographer and environmentalist known for his black-and-white images of the American West. He helped found Group f/64,an association of photographers advocating "pure" photography which favored sharp focus and the use of the full tonal range of a photograph. He and Fred Archer developed a system of image-making called the Zone System,a method of achieving a desired final print through a technical understanding of how the tonal range of an image is the result of choices made in exposure,negative development,and printing.
Fort Bliss is a United States Army post in New Mexico and Texas,with its headquarters in El Paso,Texas. Named in honor of LTC William Bliss (1815–1853),a mathematics professor who was the son-in-law of President Zachary Taylor,Ft. Bliss has an area of about 1,700 square miles (4,400 km2);it is the largest installation in FORSCOM and second-largest in the Army overall. The portion of the post located in El Paso County,Texas,is a census-designated place with a population of 8,591 as of the time of the 2010 census. Fort Bliss provides the largest contiguous tract of restricted airspace in the Continental United States,used for missile and artillery training and testing,and at 992,000 acres boasts the largest maneuver area. The garrison's land area is accounted at 1.12 million acres,ranging to the boundaries of the Lincoln National Forest and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Fort Bliss also includes the Castner Range National Monument.

William Beaumont Army Medical Center is a Department of Defense medical facility located in Fort Bliss,Texas. It provides comprehensive care to all beneficiaries including active duty military,their family members,and retirees. The hospital is located in the Central/Northeastern part of El Paso,and provides emergency department services for Northeast El Paso. The current 1.1-million-square-foot,6-building medical complex opened July 10,2021 on East Fort Bliss. WBAMC is affiliated with the Paul L. Wendameen is a historic schooner normally berthed at the Maine State Pier on Commercial Street in Portland,Maine. She is a two-masted auxiliary rigged schooner,designed in 1912 by the noted naval architect John G. Alden. She is now owned and operated by the Portland Schooner Company,which offers sailing tours of Casco Bay,using Wendameen and Bagheera.
