Ferenc Puskás was a Hungarian footballer and manager, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and he is the son of former footballer Ferenc Puskás Senior. A prolific forward, he scored 84 goals in 85 international matches for Hungary, and 514 goals in 529 matches in the Hungarian and Spanish leagues. He became an Olympic champion in 1952 and led his nation to the final of the 1954 World Cup where he was named the tournament's best player. He won three European Cups, 10 national championships and 8 top individual scoring honors. In 1995, he was recognized as the top scorer of the 20th century by the IFFHS.
Ferencvárosi Torna Club, known as Ferencváros, is a professional football club based in Ferencváros, Budapest, Hungary, that competes in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the top flight of Hungarian football. Ferencváros was founded in 1899 by Ferenc Springer and a group of local residents of Budapest's ninth district, Ferencváros. Ferencváros is best known internationally for winning the 1964–65 edition of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup after defeating Juventus 1–0 in Turin and for reaching the final in the same competition in 1968, when they lost to Leeds United and the final in the 1974–75 season of the European Cup Winners' Cup, lost to Dinamo Kiev.
József Bozsik was a Hungarian footballer who played as a midfielder. He spent his entire club career at his hometown club, Budapest Honvéd. Bozsik was a key member of the legendary Mighty Magyars as he represented Hungary in various international tournaments.

In 1955, as Vörös Lobogó SE, they became the first Hungarian team to play in the European Cup and in 1964 they finished as runners-up in the European Cup Winners' Cup after losing to Sporting Clube de Portugal in the final. The club founded the Sándor Károly Football Academy in 2001. The Academy also has a partnership agreement with English club Liverpool F.C.

The league is currently known as the OTP Bank Liga for sponsorship reasons, and it has been the highest level of the professional league since its inception in 1901. The team known as the Mighty Magyars was also the first non-British team to defeat England, 6-3 at Wembley in 1953. Months later, they defeated the English by a convincing 7-1 in Budapest in 1954, the worst defeat in the history of the English team.
Puskás Aréna is a football stadium under construction in the 14th district (Zugló) of Budapest, Hungary. The stadium's construction started in 2017 and is projected to be finished by the end of 2019. It is planned to be an all-seater with a capacity of 67,889. The Hungarian Football Federation will meet all UEFA and FIFA stadium requirements and expects to be awarded the 5-star rating when construction is finished. The stadium is built in the place of the former Ferenc Puskás Stadium whose demolition was completed in October 2016.

It started with the first match of Round 1 on 7 August 2013 and ended with the Final held in May 2014 at Stadium Puskás Ferenc, Budapest. Debrecen were the defending champions, having won their sixth cup competition last season. The winner of the competition will qualify for the second qualifying round of the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League.
