Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. Aa Dinagalu is a 2007 Indian Kannada-language crime drama film based on the non-fiction novel Daadaagiriya Dinagalu by Agni Shridhar, and directed by K. M. Chaitanya. It stars Chethan Kumar in the lead role. The supporting cast features Sharath Lohitashwa, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Atul Kulkarni and Veda Sastry. The plot revolves around mafia in Bangalore during the 1980s when gangsters Kotwal Ramachandra and M. P. Jayaraj dominated the Bangalore underworld. K.G.F: Chapter 1 is a 2018 Indian Kannada-language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films. It is the first of two installments in the series, followed by K.G.F: Chapter 2. The film features Yash as Rocky while debutant Ramachandra Raju features as Garuda. Anant Nag narrates the film, while Srinidhi Shetty, Vasishta N. Simha, Achyuth Kumar, and Malavika Avinash appear in supporting roles. Filmed on a budget of 800 million, it was the most expensive Kannada film at the time of its release. The film focuses on Rocky, a high-ranking assassin in Mumbai, who was born in poverty. After being offered the total control of Mumbai by his employer's boss, he disguises himself as a slave-laborer in the Narachi limestone mine, aiming to assassinate Garuda, the future heir of Kolar Gold Fields.

Jigarthandaa (transl. Cold-hearted) is a 2016 Indian Kannada-language action comedy film directed by Shiva Ganesh, written by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kichcha Creations and SRV Productions. The film was a remake of 2014 Tamil film of same name which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean movie A Dirty Carnival. It stars Rahul and Samyukta Hornad along with P. Ravi Shankar, Chikkanna, Dharma, K. Manju, Guruprasad, Sadhu Kokila and Veena Sundar in supporting roles. Arjun Janya composed film's score and soundtrack. It was released on 24 June 2016.

Shivaji Surathkal also known as Shivaji Surathkal: The Case of Ranagiri Rahasya is a 2020 mystery thriller Kannada language film written and directed by Akash Srivatsa, produced by Anup Gowda, Reka KN, starring Ramesh Aravind and Radhika Narayan in lead roles. The film is Ramesh's 101st movie. The plot revolves around a murder mystery beginning in Ranagiri. After the success of the film, makers have decided to create a franchise and have planned to produce a sequel of the film.

Ticket is a bilingual comedy drama film written and directed by Raaghav Ranganathan, and produced by Preetha Raaghav. Shot in Tamil and English, the film features Raaghav in the lead role, alongside Karthik Kumar, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli and Sanam Shetty.
