Murali (Malayalam actor)

Muraleedharan Pillai, popularly known as Murali was an Indian film, stage and television actor and author. He mainly appeared in Malayalam films and a few Tamil films and also many other movies. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Appa Mestry, a communist freedom fighter and professional weaver in the 2002 film Neythukaran. Regarded by film critics as one of the greatest actors in Indian cinema, he was known for his powerful portrayal of character roles, lead roles and negative roles.

He wrote and acted in Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Tiyaan, Left Right Left and Kammara Sambhavam, which are considered as path breakers in their respective genres, and scripted the record-breaking blockbuster Lucifer. He has won numerous awards including Filmfare Awards South and South Indian International Movie Awards for his work on screen and behind it.

Lucifer is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language action film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor through the production house Aashirvad Cinemas, the film marks Prithviraj's directorial debut and features Mohanlal in the lead role, alongside a supporting cast including Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saniya Iyappan, Sai Kumar, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nyla Usha. Deepak Dev composed the film's music, and the cinematography was handled by Sujith Vaassudev.

Nireekshana (transl. Awaiting) is a 1982 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film directed by Balu Mahendra produced by Linga Raju starring Bhanu Chandra and Archana in lead roles and Allu Ramalingaiah, P. L. Narayana and Rallapalli in other roles. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film was remade into Tamil as Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam (2005) and Malayalam as Yathra (1985) by Balu Mahendra himself.
