Varalaru: History Of Godfather, or simply known as Varalaru (transl. History), is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language action-drama film written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar, and produced by S. S. Chakravarthy under the banner NIC Arts. The film stars Ajith Kumar in a triple role as a father and his twin sons alongside Asin, Ramesh Khanna, Suman Setty, Kanika, Sujatha and M. S. Baskar play supporting roles. The film's soundtrack and background score was composed by A. R. Rahman. The film ran for 210 days and became a blockbuster at the box office. Prior to its release, the film was known by its title Godfather, but following the Government of Tamil Nadu's motion to exempt tax on films titled in Tamil in 2006, the film's title was changed. After two years of production, the film was released on 20 October 2006 during the eve of Diwali, and emerged as the highest grosser of the year. The film has been remade in Kannada, titled Godfather and in Burmese as Nat Khat Mhar Tae Tite Pwal, and in Odia as Tu Mo Dehara Chhai. This film was Sujatha’s final appearance before her retirement and eventual demise in 2011.

A. L. Vijay, known professionally as Vijay, is an Indian film director who works in the Tamil film industry. An assistant director with Priyadarshan, he debuted as director with films such as Kireedam and the critically acclaimed Madrasapattinam. Vijay later directed films such as Deiva Thirumagal and Thaandavam, starring Vikram in both films.
Ajith Kumar is an Indian actor who works mainly in Tamil cinema. Apart from a small role in the 1990 Tamil film En Veedu En Kanavar, his professional career began three years later with his debut as a lead actor in Tamil cinema with Amaravathi (1993). Despite being a moderate success, the film helped him obtain more modelling assignments. He followed it up the same year with Prema Pusthakam, his only Telugu film till date. The story, set in Mumbai, revolves around a heist of cricket betting money, executed by a gang of four thieves, who are joined by a fifth unknown man, and its aftermath.

Chakravarthy appearing in supporting roles. Richard M. Nathan handled the cinematography, while the film's soundtrack and score were composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Dharan Kumar, respectively. Later on, it was dubbed in Hindi as Gabbar Sher in 2016. The story revolves around a trekking guide, who is forced to leave for Bangkok under strange circumstances and witnesses a series of puzzling incidents there. After several delays finally the film was released on 13 January 2013.

The story revolves around a dancer who takes over his father's duty as a crime boss after his death. Imman, with Ganesh Rajavelu and Don Max handling cinematography and editing respectively.

Manithan (transl. Human) is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language legal thriller film directed by I. Ahmed. The film features an ensemble cast, including Udhayanidhi Stalin, Hansika Motwani, Radha Ravi, Prakash Raj, Vivek, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Krishna Kumar. Based on Subhash Kapoor's Hindi film Jolly LLB (2013), which itself being loosely based on the 1999 Delhi hit-and-run case, the story revolves around a junior lawyer who, after a period of struggle and ridicule among colleagues, fights a case against a powerful supreme court lawyer. Unlike the original film, which was a comedy drama, Manithan was made to be more serious and dramatic. The film was released on 29 April 2016 to highly positive reviews.

The film revolves around the reunion of former students from the batch of 1996, twenty-two years after their graduation. The reunion also serves as an opportunity for two former lovers, Ram and Jaanu, to resolve issues surrounding their breakup.
