Kontrol are a Bulgarian punk band. Initially active between 1988 and 2000, they achieved stardom in the early 1990s with their first two albums, Bumm (1991) and Lele kako (1993). In 1997, their lead singer Nikolai Yordanov left and the band's popularity declined, which led to their dissolution in 2000. They reformed in their original lineup in 2009 for a short Bulgarian tour, then reformed in 2014 with a new lead singer, Ivan Gatev.
The band was formed in 1988 and were one of the first official punk bands in the country. Their first recordings, "Tryabva vsichko da priemam" and "Nai-vazhnoto", were for the 1988 film "Pred praga" (At the Doorstep). Later that year, they released a demo tape called Stariyat dub . The tape contained 8 songs.
In 1989, they were signed to Balkanton and released a split LP with Nova Generacia. The Kontrol side consisted of the first six songs from Stariyat dub. They then performed at the Svyat - chudni hora festival in Michurin. The first song they played, "Ima" (originally released on Stariyat dub) appeared on the official compilation in 1990.
In 1990, they recorded 15 songs at the BNR Studio II. After the fall of communism, 14 of the tracks were released on the BUMM cassette in 1991.
In 1992, they recorded their second album, Lele kako , released in 1993. They also released the 88-92 compilation. The A-side consisted of the Pred praga tracks, an unreleased track called "Bulgaria" and the six songs from the BG Rock I split. The B-side consisted of songs from BUMM and Lele kako. That year, BUMM was also reissued on cassette by Lazarov Records with the Pred praga songs and an unreleased version of Ne umirahme ot shtastie.
The band released their third album, LyubOFF , in 1994. In 1996, they released a concert album called Punku nema'a umre .
In 1998, founder Nikolai Yordanov left the band and was replaced by Petar Stanoev. With Stanoev, they released their fourth and final album, Pazete si decata in 1999. The band broke up a year later.
In 2004, the compilation Te t'va e was released, containing 22 songs from the Nikolai Yordanov period. In 2001, they recorded a song called "Urok po tanci".
In 2009, they embarked on a short tour of Bulgaria with Revyu and Hipodil.
In 2014, the band reformed with new singer Ivan Gatev. Their new album 9 was released in April 2017.

Shturcite, sometimes romanized as Shturtsite, was a Bulgarian rock group. They were one of the most successful bands in Bulgaria during the 1970s and 1980s and still have many fans. The band broke up once in 1990, reformed in 1997, and disbanded again in 2013. The group has been characterized as "Bulgaria's answer to The Beatles".
Pailhead was a short-lived side project of Al Jourgensen of Ministry that featured Dischord Records founder and former Minor Threat frontman Ian MacKaye on vocals. The band's sound was a combination of industrial beats and hardcore punk, presaging what Ministry would later do with Jello Biafra in another side project, Lard.
Hipodil was a Bulgarian rock band, founded in the late 1980s in Sofia by four classmates from the local Mathematics High School.
Darkwood Dub was a Serbian alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 1988. In the years after the formation the band gradually grew to prominence on the Serbian rock scene, eventually becoming one of the most notable acts of the 1990s and 2000s Serbian and regional scene. Their music spawned many different genres. It was characterized by a mixture of live drumming and electronic percussion with frequent use of slide guitar, synthesizers and samplers and succinct and introspective lyrics, sung with offbeat vocals of Dejan Vučetić. The band cooperated with a number of musicians—most notably prominent jazz musicians Vasil Hadžimanov and Bisera Veletanlić—and composed scores for several films and theatre plays. The group released eight studio albums before disbanding in 2017.
Lilyana Ivanova Petrova, known professionally as Lili Ivanova is a Bulgarian singer. In tribute to her contribution to the culture of the country, she is often referred to as the "Prima of Bulgarian popular music". Since 1961 she is having continuous performing and concert activities, recorded songs and albums, made media appearances, participated in television programs, and made music videos. In 2023 she has been awarded with a special award by BG Radio for being "The greatest Bulgarian pop singer of all times".
Victor "Vic" Ruggiero, is a musician, songwriter and producer from New York City who has played in reggae, blues, ska and rocksteady bands since the early 1990s, including The Slackers, Stubborn All-Stars, SKAndalous All Stars, Crazy Baldhead and The Silencers. He has also performed with punk rock band Rancid, both live and in the studio. He has released four solo acoustic albums and continues to tour and record worldwide. Ruggiero is known primarily as a singer and organist, although he also plays piano, bass, banjo, cigar box guitar, guitar, harmonica and percussion.
Električni Orgazam is a Serbian rock band from Belgrade. Originally starting as a combination of new wave, punk rock and post-punk, the band later slowly changed their style, becoming a mainstream rock act. They were one of the most notable acts of the former Yugoslav rock scene.
Daniele Gaudi, better known simply as Gaudi, is an Anglo-Italian musician, solo artist and record producer based in London, who specialises in dub music, electronica, reggae and worldbeat. Dža ili Bu are a Serbian punk/alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 1987. The band was one of the most prominent acts of the 1990s and 2000s Serbian rock scene. Dža ili Bu initially performed punk rock, but during the years incorporated elements of other genres into their sound, maintaining politically and socially provocative lyrical style throughout their whole career.
