The Kyuss Lives! Tour was a 2011 concert tour by Kyuss Lives!, a spin-off band featuring three former members of American rock band Kyuss. It is the first tour since the "original" Kyuss broke up in 1995, and marks the first time in 19 years that John Garcia, Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri have performed together. The tour also marks the band's first outing with guitarist Bruno Fevery, who has taken Josh Homme's place. Scott Reeder, who was in Kyuss from 1992 to 1995, temporarily filled in for Oliveri on some European and all Canadian shows.
After Kyuss broke up in 1995, there had been frequent and persistent speculation among fans regarding the possibility of a reunion.
In 2010, a European "John Garcia plays Kyuss" tour was announced, starting with a gig at Roadburn Festival. His backing-band comprised Belgian and Dutch musicians from Agua de Annique, Kong, Celestial Season and Arsenal. The setlists almost exclusively contained Kyuss songs. Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri joined John Garcia onstage for several concert appearances on the tour, thus representing 3/4 of the original band's lineup. In July of the same year, it was announced that Garcia, Oliveri and Bjork would reunite for a reunion tour under the moniker "Kyuss Lives!", with Bruno Fevery added as the band's guitarist. The worldwide tour passed through different countries of Europe, Oceania and South America. After the tour, the band planned to record a new studio album for a 2012 release. In reference to the new band name, in the Dec/Jan'11 issue of Rock-A-Rolla Garcia stated that "there is never going to be a Kyuss without Josh Homme". He went on to state in the same interview that "Hopefully in the future, him and I can get together and do some writing".
Despite Homme refusing to join Kyuss, the tour was a big success, selling out most shows.
On March 23, 2011, the band announced their first South American tour dates, and on June 6, North American tour dates were announced.
On June 30, 2011 at 013, Tilburg, Netherlands, the band gave a two-part special show, which featured 22 songs.
On July 2, 2011, all members of Queens of the Stone Age, including Josh Homme, watched the show at Eurockéennes Festival from the side of the stage – this was not too long before Homme filed a lawsuit against the band. [1]
On July 13, 2011, TMZ.com reported that Nick Oliveri was arrested following a standoff with members of the Los Angeles country S.W.A.T. team due to a supposed domestic violence. The band later said on their Facebook page that "...TMZ blew this way out of proportion, nobody got hurt and any of that other bullshit.". The band continued their tour the next day with former Kyuss bass player Scott Reeder filling in for Nick Oliveri at four European shows in August.

Kyuss was an American rock band, formed in Palm Desert, California in 1987. The band disbanded in 1995, and since then, members of Kyuss have gone on to form or play in several notable bands including Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Dwarves, Eagles of Death Metal, Mondo Generator, Hermano, Unida, Slo Burn and Them Crooked Vultures.
Queens of the Stone Age is an American rock band formed in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme, who has been the only constant member throughout multiple line-up changes. The current line-up consists of Homme alongside Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore.
Blues for the Red Sun is the second studio album by American rock band Kyuss, released in 1992. While the album received mainly favorable reviews, it fared poorly commercially, selling only 39,000 units. It has since become a very influential album within the stoner rock genre. It was the last Kyuss album to feature bassist Nick Oliveri, who was replaced by Scott Reeder shortly after recording had been completed. Reeder had previously played with the Obsessed.
Nick Steven Oliveri is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Oliveri is perhaps best known as a former member of Kyuss and later Queens of the Stone Age from 1998 to 2004. Oliveri is also a solo artist and frequent contributor to his friends' albums and tours, including Winnebago Deal, Mark Lanegan Band, Masters of Reality, Turbonegro and Moistboyz, among many others. Oliveri is currently the frontman of his project, Mondo Generator, a punk and metal hybrid that he formed in 1997. He has also worked periodically with the Dwarves since 1993.
Joshua Michael Homme is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the founder, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of the rock band Queens of the Stone Age, which he formed in 1996 and in which he sings lead vocals and plays guitar, as well as occasionally playing bass, piano, and drums. He also co-founded Eagles of Death Metal in 1998, playing drums and bass guitar for their studio recordings and occasionally performing live with them.
Waxy is an American stoner rock band from the Desert of Southern California, and is part of the Palm Desert Scene. The power trio consists of frontman Robbie Waldman (guitar/vocals), Tyler Ontiveros (drums) and Robert Bowman (bass). Brett Stadler, long time personal friend of Waldman, is the band's eccentric co-lyricyst as well as a published poet. WAXY’s sound is a cross between Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy with a healthy dose of Tom Waits. Heavy, sexy and sincere best describe the vibe. Some people describe them as Desert Rock…Europeans call it Stoner Rock.
John Garcia is an American singer and songwriter. He is best known as the vocalist and founding member of stoner rock bands Kyuss, Slo Burn, and Unida. Although the band broke up in 2014 after a falling out that caused Garcia to leave the band, Garcia later performed in Vista Chino with former Kyuss drummer Brant Bjork. Garcia and Bjork have since decided to continue their individual solo projects, with Garcia releasing his debut album John Garcia in 2014.
Welcome to Sky Valley is the third studio album by American rock band Kyuss. It was released on June 28, 1994, through Elektra and Chameleon Records.
Brant Bjork is an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Palm Desert, California. He is perhaps best known as the drummer and founder of the influential Californian stoner rock band Kyuss. Bjork played in Vista Chino, along with former Kyuss vocalist John Garcia, up until October 2014, at which point Nick Oliveri announced that there was a falling out and that Bjork and Garcia would continue working on their solo projects. He is one of the more notable figures in the stoner rock and Palm Desert scenes and maintains a prolific solo career with over a dozen released albums.
Wretch is the first full-length album by American rock band Kyuss, released in September 1991. The tracks "Black Widow" and "Deadly Kiss" are taken from the band's debut EP, Sons of Kyuss (1990), recorded with original bassist Chris Cockrell, while the rest of the album was recorded with his replacement Nick Oliveri. The Sons of Kyuss songs "Love Has Passed Me By", "Katzenjammer", and "Isolation Desolation" were re-recorded for Wretch, the latter's title shortened to "Isolation".
Alfredo Hernández is an American drummer best known as a former member of desert rock bands Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Brant Bjork and the Bros and Yawning Man, and as a current member of his new band, Avon. He is jazz trained.
Cocaine Rodeo is the debut studio album by American rock band Mondo Generator, released on Southern Lord Records in 2000. It was compiled of material recorded by vocalist/bassist Nick Oliveri with Rob Oswald of Karma to Burn (drums), vocalist and guitarist Brent Malkus, and his ex-Kyuss bandmates. Recorded in 1997, the material was shelved for three years due to Oliveri's full-time commitment to Queens of the Stone Age. Several of the songs were performed live by Queens of the Stone Age, building up hype before the eventual release of the album.
Fatso Jetson is an American desert rock band from Palm Desert, California, United States, formed in 1994 by Yawning Man members Mario Lalli and Larry Lalli, along with Tony Tornay. They are often credited as the fathers of the desert strain of stoner rock later made most famous by their slightly younger neighbors Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age. While musically similar to some of their stoner brethren, Fatso Jetson incorporate a broader variety of musical influences that includes punk and surf.
Mondo Generator is an American rock band founded in 1997 by Nick Oliveri. The name of the band originated when Brant Bjork spray-painted the words on the side of Oliveri's Sunn amplifier. Mondo means "world" in Italian. The Oliveri-penned Kyuss song appearing on the 1992 album Blues for the Red Sun also took its name from this event, and the amplifier itself appears in the artwork for the album.
"Green Machine" is a song by Kyuss from their 1992 album, Blues for the Red Sun. Written by drummer Brant Bjork, it was released as a single that same year.
"Gardenia" is a song by American rock band Kyuss. It was released in 1995 as the second single from their third studio album, Welcome to Sky Valley (1994). It was written by the band's drummer, Brant Bjork.
