Lâm Trạch is a commune (xã) and village in Bố Trạch District, Quảng Bình Province, in Vietnam.
In Vietnam, there are three kinds of third-level (commune-level) administrative subdivisions: the rural commune, the commune-level town，and the ward. In Vietnam a rural commune is referred to as a xã and urban communes are referred to as Thị trấn, urban townships. However many communities, particularly large urban ones with provincial status, will be divided into wards which are known as phường.
Bố Trạch is a rural district in Quảng Bình Province. The district capital is Hoàn Lão township. Bố Trạch borders the capital city of Đồng Hới to the south-east and Tuyên Hóa District and Quảng Trạch District to the north, Quảng Ninh District to the south and Minh Hóa District to the north-west. Bố Trạch is home to Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park and has 30 communes and townships. As of 2006 the district had a population of 402,756. The district covers 2,123 square kilometres (820 sq mi).
Quảng Bình, formerly Tiên Bình under the reign of Lê Trung Hưng of the Lê Dynasty, is a province along Vietnam's north-central coast. The province has an area of 8,065.8 square kilometers and population of 857,818 inhabitants The province is bordered by the Laotian Khammouane Province to the west, the North Pacific Ocean to the east, Hà Tĩnh Province to the north and Quảng Trị Province to the south. Vanderford Glacier is a glacier about 8 km (5 mi) wide flowing northwest into the southeast side of Vincennes Bay, slightly south of the Windmill Islands. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Benjamin Vanderford, pilot of the sloop of war Vincennes of the United States Exploring Expedition under Captain Wilkes, 1838-42. The glacier was mapped from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946-47.
