Dutchess County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 297,488. The county seat is the city of Poughkeepsie. The county was created in 1683, one of New York's first twelve counties, and later organized in 1713. It is located in the Mid-Hudson Region of the Hudson Valley, north of New York City.

It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The population was 14,621 at the 2010 census. The town was named after Henry Beekman, a 17th-century land owner.

Poughkeepsie, officially the Town of Poughkeepsie, is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 43,341. The name is derived from the native term Uppuqui meaning "lodge-covered", plus ipis meaning "little water", plus ing meaning "place", all of which translates to "the reed-covered lodge by the little water place", or Uppuqui-ipis-ing. This later evolved into Apokeepsing, then into Poughkeepsing, and finally Poughkeepsie.

District School No. 9, sometimes referred to as the Old Stone Schoolhouse, is located on NY 17A 1.4 mile (2.3 km) south of Goshen, New York. One of the first schools in the county, it remained in use for well over a century, possibly two. It is believed to be both the oldest and longest-used one-room schoolhouse in the United States.
The Huguenot Schoolhouse, also known as District Schoolhouse No. 3, the 1863 Schoolhouse and the Town of Deerpark Museum, is located on South Grange Road a short distance from US 209 in Huguenot, a hamlet of the Town of Deerpark in Orange County, New York, United States. It was built in 1863, and is a large, one-story, Greek Revival style masonry building. It closed as a school in 1961, and currently serves as a local historic museum.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on July 3, 2008 and a dedication ceremony for the accomplishment was held on June 12, 2009.
The District #2 Schoolhouse, known locally as the Garfield School and also known as Brunswick District No. 2 School, located in Brunswick, New York, United States, is a two-room schoolhouse built and opened in 1881. It hosted local students until the consolidation of Brunswick (Brittonkill) Central School District in the mid-1950s. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1988, becoming the first building in the Town of Brunswick to be added to the Register. It is the current home of the Brunswick Historical Society.

Oran District No. 22 Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located at Oran in Onondaga County, New York. It is a one-story frame building on a stone foundation, 25 feet wide and 41 feet deep. It was originally built in the 1830s as a store and post office. It was remodeled sometime before the 1860s for use as a school. It ceased being used as a school in 1951 and is now used as a community center.

Bangall Post Office is a historic post office building located at Bangall, Dutchess County, New York. It was built in 1915, and is a small one-story, rectangular frame building sheathed in clapboard. It measures approximately 30 by 20 feet, has a front gable roof with overhanging eaves, and sits on a stone foundation. The front facade features a one-story, almost full-width porch with shed roof. The building is owned by the Stanford Historical Society and leased by the United State Postal Service.
