Franklin is a village in Southfield Township, Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,150 at the 2010 census. The community is known for large, estate-style homes. The downtown was designated as an historic district, the first in Michigan, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. A nearby cider mill is among many significant properties.
Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park is a California state park located in Napa County between St. Helena and Calistoga. The park is the site of a water-powered grist mill that was built in 1846 is one of only two water-driven mills remaining west of the Mississippi River.

Montgomery Place, now Bard College: The Montgomery Place Campus, near Barrytown, New York, United States, is an early 19th-century estate that has been designated a National Historic Landmark. It is also a contributing property to the Hudson River Historic District, itself a National Historic Landmark. It is a Federal-style house, with expansion designed by architect Alexander Jackson Davis. It reflects the tastes of a younger, post-Revolutionary generation of wealthy landowners in the Livingston family who were beginning to be influenced by French trends in home design, moving beyond the strictly English models exemplified by Clermont Manor a short distance up the Hudson River. It is the only Hudson Valley estate house from this era that survives intact, and Davis's only surviving neoclassical country house.
The Mill at Anselma is an archetypal small, 18th century custom grain mill in Anselma, outside Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. It is probably the only surviving one in the United States with an intact colonial-era power transmission system. A custom grain mill typically ground cornmeal and flour only for local farmers, not for commercial distribution. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2005.
Prallsville is an unincorporated community located along New Jersey Route 29 by the border of Stockton and Delaware Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The Delaware River and Wickecheoke Creek border the community. The Prallsville District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
Lafayette Village is a historic district extending along Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. It encompasses a linear rural and industrial village, running from the Wickford Junction railroad crossing in the west to Angel Avenue in the east, and includes a number of residential properties on adjacent side streets. The centerpiece of the district is the Rodman Manufacturing Company complex, which operated here for a century beginning in the 1840s. The Robert Rodman Mansion, a Second Empire house with an elaborate porch, stands at 731 Ten Rod Road, and the Walter Rodman House, built in the 1870s, is even more elaborately decorated. Most of the residential stock in the district is mill-related housing built by the Rodmans for their workers.
Gladden Windmill is an historic windmill formerly located on Pigeon Valley Road in Napoli, Cattaraugus County, New York. The windmill was built in 1890 and is a well-preserved example of a vertical wind turbine built during the 19th century. Although no longer operational, the turbine is a rare example of wind power technology in the United States.
The Charles Holbrook House is a historic house in Sherborn, Massachusetts. Built c. 1870–75, this modest house is the town's finest example of Second Empire styling. It was built for Charles Albert Holbrook (1846-1899), whose family operated a large apple cider mill in town. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 3, 1986.
The Kimlin Cider Mill is located on the east side of Cedar Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie, on approximately two acres of land. A mid-19th century barn forms the core of the cider mill. The Mill was part of a larger agricultural property owned and operated by the Kimlin family since the family first came to this country from Ireland in the early 1850s. A commercial cider business at this site in the 1880s.

Grimes Mill was located at 600 N. Church St. in Salisbury, North Carolina. It was built in 1896 as a flour and feed mill. It stayed active until 1982. The Historic Salisbury Foundation bought it that year and later turned it into a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was the only roller mill museum in North Carolina. The site was destroyed by fire on January 16, 2013.
The Parker Mill, also known as Parker Mill Park or Parker Mill Complex, is a mill located at 4650 Geddes Road, east of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The mill is a well-preserved example of a small-scale grist mill operation that was once common in Michigan. The mill and nearby Parker House were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The Old Red Mill is a historic mill complex at Vermont Route 12 and Lovers Lane in southern Northfield, Vermont. Built in 1898, the building houses a nearly intact water-powered grain grinding mechanism from the period. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
The Hitchcock-Schwarzmann Mill was a historic industrial building at the junction of Foote and Vineyard Roads in Burlington, Connecticut. Built about 1781 and repeatedly enlarged and altered, it was the town's only surviving 18th-century mill building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and has subsequently been demolished.
The Dr. Newman C. Rowley House is a fine brick house built in 1868 in Middleton, Wisconsin. In 1999 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is now a museum of the Middleton Area Historic Society.
The Waterloo Farm Museum is a museum located at 9998 Waterloo-Munith Road in Waterloo Township, Michigan. It was originally the Siebold Farm and then the Realy Farm. The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
The Wooster Sawmill and Gristmill Site is a historic industrial site on Park Street in Oxford, Connecticut. From at least 1747 until 1965 it was operated as a sawmill, gristmill, and cider mill, giving it one of the longest known histories as a water-powered mill complex in the United States. The surviving elements of the complex, its structures now converted to private residential use, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
