NARISAWA received one Michelin star in the 2008 Michelin Guide Tokyo, and then two stars in 2010. In 2008 the restaurant was ranked 20th among The World's 50 Best Restaurants, and the best restaurant in Asia. Most recently, the restaurant was named 8th in 2016. [1]

Chef

Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa was born on 11 April 1969 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. [2] He trained in Switzerland under Frédy Girardet, in France under Joël Robuchon, and in Italy at Antica Osteria del Ponte. [3]

Narisawa returned from Europe after 9 years and opened his own first restaurant in Odawara, Kanagawa, and named it "La Napoule". He subsequently moved the entire operation to central Tokyo.

Beginning his career in St. Etienne where he won three Michelin Stars, Gagnaire tore at the conventions of classic French cooking by introducing jarring juxtapositions of flavours, tastes, textures, and ingredients. On his website, Gagnaire gives his mission statement as the wish to run a restaurant which is 'facing tomorrow but respectful of yesterday'.

Hakkasan is a Chinese restaurant first opened in Fitzrovia in London, England but has since expanded to many cities worldwide. The restaurant was founded in 2001 by Alan Yau, who was also behind the Wagamama Japanese restaurants and later the Yauatcha restaurant, also in London. Described as "Japan's most difficult restaurant to make a booking at", the restaurant closed in February 2013 so that Araki could pursue a new challenge overseas, which led to him opening The Araki in London in October 2014. In March 2019, Araki moved to Hong Kong to open another restaurant and was replaced at The Araki in London by Marty Lau. While The Araki had three Michelin star ratings, it was stripped of all three stars in the 2020 guide.

Seiji Yamamoto is a Japanese chef, who holds five Michelin stars at his restaurants, including Nihonryori RyuGin. His restaurant has been named in The World's 50 Best Restaurants, while he has placed fifth in Le Chef's list of the best chefs in the world.

Restaurant André was a fine-dining restaurant in Singapore that served French Nouvelle cuisine. The restaurant was opened on 10 October 2010 by André Chiang, who also served as the head chef. The restaurant had since closed on 15 February 2018.

Sazenka is a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in Minato, Tokyo.
