Leshi Township or Layshi Township (Burmese : လေရှီးမြို့နယ်) is a mountainous [1] township located within the Naga Self-Administered Zone of Sagaing Region, Myanmar. It is also part of the Naga Self-Administered Zone. The principal town is Leshi.
There is a major road under construction down from Lashi to the Chindwin River at Tamanthi in Homalin Township. [1] [2]
In 2010, a portion of Hkamti Township in the Naga Hills, including the Naga village of Yawpami, was transferred to Leshi Township, to facilitate the creation of the Naga Self-Administered Zone. [1]
Among the towns and villages in Leshi Township are [3] [1] Amimi (Ahmimi), Heirnkut (Heinkwet), Kholar, Naungkatiat (Naungkantlant), Ngacham (Ngakyan), Pansat (Panset), Sainolin (Saungnoelin), Saungkin (Sonkin), Somra (Sumnarar), Tsera and Yawpami (Rawparmee).
Various Ao languages and Tangkhulic languages are spoken in Leshi Township.

Nagas are various ethnic groups native to northeastern India and northwestern Myanmar. The groups have similar cultures and traditions, and form the majority of population in the Indian state of Nagaland and Naga Self-Administered Zone of Myanmar (Burma); with significant populations in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India; Sagaing Region and Kachin State in Myanmar.
Leshi, is a town in Naga Hills of Sagaing Division on the north-west frontier of Burma. According to the new 2008 Constitution of the military regime, it will now be grouped together with Lahe and Nanyun in Naga Self-Administered Zone. Leshi is reached via Htamanthi across the Chindwin River by boat from Homalin, and there are domestic flights from Yangon and Mandalay to Homalin.
Thantlang Township is one of the nine townships in Chin State. Thantlang is the administrative town of inclusive nine circles attributed to the geographical and dialectical arrangements of the area. They are Khualhring Tlang, Vanzang Tlang, Zahnak Tlang, Bual Tlang, VaiLam Tlang Lautu Tlang, Mara Tlang, Vailam Tlang, Zophei Tlang and Bawipa Tlang(Bawipa circle). Only four circles speak Lai dialect. Zophei(Zophei and Bawipa circles), Lautu(Lautu circle), HawThai(Mara circle) speak their tribal language. The other fives circles and in Thantlang town speak Lai dialect. In Thantlang township, Lai dialect is the common use dialect. Lai dialect is also spoken at Hakha township and Falam township.

Hkamti District or Khamti District is a district in northern Sagaing Division of Burma (Myanmar). Its administrative center is the town of Singkaling Hkamti.
The Naga Self-Administered Zone, is a self-administered zone in the Naga Hills area of Sagaing Region of Myanmar. Its administrative seat is the town of Lahe.
Hkamti Township or Khamti Township is a township in Hkamti District in the Sagaing Region of Burma (Myanmar). The principal town is Hkamti. As of 2014 the township had a population of 47,658 people and covered an area of 8,174 square kilometres (3,156 sq mi). The township is dominated by the Chindwin River and its tributaries as well as thickly forested areas. Nearly half the active working population are employed in agriculture, forestry or fishing. The township is a producer of rice and has gold and jade reserves.
Homalin Township is a township in Hkamti District in the Sagaing Region of Burma. The principal town is Homalin. The principal rivers flowing through the township are the Chindwin River form north to south and the Uyu River from east to west, joining the Chindwin near Homalin town.
Yawpami is a village in Leshi Township in the Naga Self-Administered Zone in Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It lies 15 km to the northeast of Amimi and about 30 km southwest of Salem.
Thayet Township is a township of Thayet District in the Magway Region of Burma (Myanmar). It lies on the west side of the Irrawaddy. The major town and administrative center is Thayet. Notable peaks are Mount Myinba (1688 ft.) and Mount Myinmagyi (1032 ft.).
Hwekum is a village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, in the Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It is located in a mountainous forest area to the northwest of Singkaling Hkamti. The village, close to the Indian border, has been subject to raids by the Ponyo Nagars, and since 2010 has been part of the new Naga-self-administered zone.
Ponyo is a village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, in the Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It is located on the border with India and lies at the headwaters of the Namteik Kha river.
Aonbaw is a village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, in the Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It is located in the Naga Hills, to the north of Lahe. Human sacrifice and headhunting has been documented in the Lahe Township.
Htangsan, also Htangsan Naga, is a village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, in the Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It is located in the Naga Hills, to the northwest of Hwekum and to the southwest of Lahe. At the centre of the village is a circle with a grey roofed building. Human sacrifice and headhunting has been documented in the Lahe Township.
Tinmaung is a village in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, in the Sagaing Region of northwestern Burma. It is located in the Naga Hills, near the Indian border, to the southwest of Htinpakhwe and northeast of Htun. At the centre of village life is a circle with a grey roofed building, located in its western part. Human sacrifice and headhunting has been documented in the Lahe Township.
Somra, also known as Burmese Tangkhul, is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Myanmar. The two ethnic Tangkhul languages are related, but are not mutually intelligible, being only 30% lexically similar. Somra is closer to Akyaung Ari.
Akyaung Ari, or Ngachan, is a Tangkhulic language spoken in Myanmar. It is most closely related to Somra. It is spoken in Heinkut, Jagram, and Ngachan villages of Leshi Township, Sagaing Division, Myanmar. Ngachan shares 52% lexical similarity with Tanghkul Naga of Somra, 23% with Tangkhul Naga of Ukhrul in India, and 23% with Koki Naga.
Lainong Naga, or Htang Ngan, is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Burma. Lainong Naga is spoken in about 32 villages of Lahe Township and northwestern Hkamti Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Sagaing Division, Myanmar (Ethnologue). Dialects are Zëūdiāng.
Makury, or Makury Naga, is a Naga language of India and Myanmar. Shi (2009:3) and Saul (2005:25) suggest that Makury may be an Ao language. The Makury dialects share 93% lexical similarity.
