Liga Tucumana de Fútbol is a football league based in Tucumán Province in Argentina.

Tucumán is the most densely populated, and the second-smallest by land area, of the provinces of Argentina. Located in the northwest of the country, the province has the capital of San Miguel de Tucumán, often shortened to Tucumán. Neighboring provinces are, clockwise from the north: Salta, Santiago del Estero and Catamarca. It is nicknamed El Jardín de la República, as it is a highly productive agricultural area.

It started in 1977 as a reorganised version of the Federación Tucumana de Fútbol (whose first championship was competed for in 1919) but is now effectively at the 6th level of the Argentine football league system, although prior to 1967 it was the main tournament for Tucumán teams. Between 1967-85 local teams were also able to qualify for the Nacional championship, and then in 1985 the current Argentine structure was put in place meaning the league was effectively demoted a number of levels. The Argentine football league system include tournaments organised by the Argentine Football Association. Clubs affiliated to the body compete in the tournaments, which are split into categories or divisions.

The Campeonato Nacional was one of the two football tournaments that formed the Primera División season since 1967. The Nacional championship was played annually until its last edition in 1985.

Club Social y Deportivo La Florida

Club Social y Deportivo La Florida, mostly known as La Florida is an Argentine football club from La Florida y Luisiana in Tucumán Province. The team currently plays in the regional competition of the Province, the Liga Tucumana de Fútbol.

In 2012 the four teams qualified for the semi finals were Amalia, Jorge Newbery, Lastenia and San Fernando. [2]

The most successful teams have traditionally been San Martín and Atlético. [3]

The 1944 Copa Ibarguren was the 20° edition of this National cup of Argentina. It was played by the champions of Primera División and the winner of "Copa Presidente de la Nación", a regional competition where Provincial Federations took part. crowned during 1944.
