The Supreme Council is the unicameral Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic. It was known as the Supreme Soviet of the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic until 1991.
Kyrgyz Premier League is the top division of Kyrgyz football. It was created in 1992 after the Breakup of the Soviet Union. The league is composed of eight teams. The most successful team is Dordoi Bishkek who have won the league nine times.
Almazbek Sharshenovich Atambayev is a Kyrgyz politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 1 December 2011 to 24 November 2017. He was Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan from 17 December 2010 to 1 December 2011, and from 29 March 2007 to 28 November 2007. He served as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK) from 30 July 1999 to 23 September 2011.
The Kyrgyzstan Cup is Kyrgyzstan's premier knockout tournament in men's football (soccer).
There is a small population of Pakistanis in Kyrgyzstan, primarily students pursuing medical degrees. Most Pakistanis are based in the capital city of Bishkek. There are 200 Pakistani students in Kyrgyz State Medical Academy alone. They have complained to the media about the poor treatment they face at the hands of local militsiya. During the 2010 South Kyrgyzstan riots, fifteen Pakistani students were taken hostage by militants in Osh, among whom one, a final-year engineering student named Ali Raza was killed. Another 263 were evacuated from the city. Students in unaffected areas were not evacuated and remained in the country. Later that year, Pakistani businessman Zahid Jan of ZTK Co. announced plans to invest in Jalal-Abad with the construction of a juice factory there.
Maksim Agapov is a Kyrgyzstani footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Xorazm FK Urganch. He previously played for Neftchi Kochkor-Ata, but after the dissolution of the club, he moved to his current club.
Evgeniy Timofeev is an alpine skier from Kyrgyzstan. He competed for Kyrgyzstan at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. He was the only Kyrgyzstani athlete in Sochi.
Daniel Nii Armah Tagoe is a Ghanaian-Kyrgyz international footballer who plays as a Defender for Shan United FC in the Myanmar National League. He is also a member of the Kyrgyzstan national football team.

The Independence Day of Kyrgyzstan is the main state holiday in Kyrgyzstan. It is celebrated in Kyrgyzstan annually on August 31, the anniversary of its declaration of independence in 1991.
Sooronbay Sharipovich Jeenbekov is a Kyrgyz politician, and the President of Kyrgyzstan. He officially took office on 24 November 2017. He was also the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan from April 2016 to August 2017.
Kyrgyzstan is scheduled to compete in the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from February 19 to 26. The country is scheduled to compete in four sports. The team consists of 33 athletes, a drop of 19 athletes from the previous edition of the games in 2011. The Kyrgyzstani government plans on spending 8,737,000 Kyrgyzstani som on the team's participation at the games.

The Kyrgyzstan competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Kyrgyzstan made its first appearance at the Asian Games in 1994 Hiroshima, and the best achievement was in the 2002 Busan, with a gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals. At the last edition in Incheon, Kyrgyzstan managed to claim 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Chingiz Aidarbekov is a Kyrgyz diplomat who is the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, serving in the position since October 2018.
Kuluypa Konduchalova was a Kyrgyz-Soviet teacher, politician and cultural minister. She is most-known as a patron of culture and for the work she did to promote Kyrgyz arts to international audiences. She was honored as a Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic, twice honored with the Order of Manas in the 1st and 3rd degrees, decorated as a Commander of the Order of Lenin and was twice awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
The Security Council of Kyrgyzstan is an political/constitutional body in the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. It's tasks includes considering internal and external threats to the state and maintaining security and defense of Kyrgyzstan. Being a purely advisory body, it aides the President in developing his/her decisions related to the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan and other law enforcement bodies. The current Secretary of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan is Damir Sagynbaev. Notable security council secretaries include Almazbek Kurmanaliev, Tokon Mamytov, and Zhenish Razakov. The security council was renamed in 2010 to the defense council and was reverted to its former name in March 2017.
The 2019 Kyrgyzstan Cup was the 28th season of the Kyrgyzstan Cup, the knockout football tournament in Kyrgyzstan. The cup winner qualifies for the 2020 AFC Cup.
