<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sri Lanka national cricket team</span> Cricket team

The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket in 1926–27 and became an associate member of the ICC in 1965. They were awarded the Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket-playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Denagamage Praboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene is a Sri Lankan former professional cricketer and captain of the Sri Lankan national cricket team. He is the current consultant coach of the Sri Lankan national team and the head coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen from Sri Lankan cricket.

Karunasena Kodituwakku is a Sri Lankan politician, academic and diplomat. He was the Sri Lankan ambassador to China, and non-resident ambassador to Mongolia and North Korea. He was the former Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister of Education, Human Resources Development and Cultural Affairs and the third governor of the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. He also served as the vice chancellor of University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Sri Lankan ambassador to Japan and Republic of Korea.

Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Kumar Jayadeva Karannagoda, RSP, VSV, USP, MRIN, MNI is a Sri Lankan naval officer. He served as the Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy during the last phase of the Sri Lankan Civil War and Governor of North Western Province, Sri Lanka from 2021 to 2023.

Chandrasekera Rohitha Bandara Bogollagama is a Sri Lankan lawyer and politician. He was the former Governor of Eastern Province, prior to which he served as the Cabinet Minister of Foreign Affairs from 28 January 2007 until he was defeated in the General Elections held on 8 April 2010, losing his seat in parliament.

The Sri Lanka Overseas Service (SLOS) which is most commonly referred to as the Sri Lanka Foreign Service is the foreign service of Sri Lanka. It is the body of career diplomats of Sri Lanka. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also the head of the foreign service.

Lokugamage Rupasena Karunathilake was a cabinet minister and Member of Parliament representing Bentara-Elpitiya electorate, in Galle District. He was also a Sri Lanka Ambassador to the Netherlands. He was educated at Ananda Vidyalaya, Elpitiya, Mahinda College, Galle and Nalanda College Colombo. His youngest son Sanjeev now Southern Provincial Council Member.

Susil Moonesinghe was a Sri Lankan lawyer, politician, diplomat and former chairman of State Trading Wholesale Company Ltd. A former chief minister of the Western Provincial Council and a member of parliament, he was Sri Lankan Ambassador to Iran. The brother of Anil Moonesinghe and the son of Piyadas Moonesinghe, he was educated at the Royal College, Colombo.

Ferial Ismail Ashraff is a Sri Lankan politician. She was the wife of M. H. M. Ashraff, the deceased leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and the National Unity Alliance. She was the Minister of Housing and Common Amenities under President Chandrika Kumaratunga. She was a representative of Ampara District for the United People's Freedom Alliance in the Parliament of Sri Lanka. She resides in Colombo.

Punchi Banda Gunathilleke Kalugalla was a Sri Lankan politician, Cabinet Minister and diplomat. He contested the 1956 election as a Sri Lanka Freedom Party candidate for Kegalle electorate, won and was appointed as a Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health by S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike. In June 1959, he was appointed as Minister of Cultural Affairs & Social Services, and held that portfolio under W. Dahanayake. Having held his seat in the 1960 parliamentary elections, he was appointed Minister of Transport & Works by Sirimavo Bandaranaike. In November 1962, he was appointed as Minister of Finance, then Minister of Education & Cultural Affairs in Bandaranaike's May 1963 cabinet reshuffle. Kalugalla held his seat through elections in 1965 and 1970, being appointed Minister of Shipping & Tourism, with Aviation being added to his portfolio following the Lanka Sama Samaja Party's departure from the Cabinet in 1975. The 1977 elections saw him lose the Kegalle seat, but won it back in 1994 on the Democratic United National Front ticket, being appointed Deputy Minister of Justice & Cultural Affairs by Chandrika Kumaratunge.

Ahamed Jamaldeen Mohamed Muzammil is a Sri Lankan politician, the Mayor of Colombo between 2011 and 2016, he also served as Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Malaysia (2017-2019), following which he was appointed the ninth Governor of the Western Province in 2019, the eleventh Governor of the North Western Province, and on 31 August 2020, appointed the thirteenth Governor of the Uva Province.

Janaka Priyantha Bandara is a Sri Lankan Politician and diplomat. He was the Governor of Sabaragamuwa. He was earlier the Sri Lanka's Ambassador to the UAE. He was a member of the Sri Lankan Parliament, from the national list representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

Herath Mudiyanselage Charitha Herath is current member of Parliament from National List, Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE). and the Professor of Philosophy at the University of Peradeniya. His appointment was valid from 21 June 2019. Chair Professorship of Philosophy at Peradeniya has been one of the well established academic position. He is the former Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Mass Media and Information in Sri Lanka and former Chairman of the Central Environment Authority. Herath's academic interests are mainly based on Contemporary Analytical Philosophy and his research focused on Later Wittgenstein's Philosophy and the Environmental Ethics. He was the Head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Peradeniya from 2016 to 2018.

Karunarathna Paranawithana is a Sri Lankan politician, current member of parliament for Ratnapura district and deputy minister of Provincial Council and Local Government. He previously served as secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media before resigning to contest from UNP-led alliance the UNFGG in the parliamentary polls.
