List of Stony Brook University buildings

Stony Brook University is one of the four university centers in the State University of New York System and has over a hundred buildings in its main campus in Stony Brook, New York and several in Southampton, New York. The University was founded in 1957 in Oyster Bay and transferred to Stony Brook in 1962. Since the 1960s the campus has enjoyed rapid growth employing different architectural styles: Brutalist and Modern being among the widely used.

Suffolk County is a predominantly suburban county and is the easternmost county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the county's population was 1,493,350, estimated to have decreased slightly to 1,476,601 in 2019, making it the fourth-most populous county in New York. Its county seat is Riverhead, though most county offices are in Hauppauge. The county was named after the county of Suffolk in England, from where its earliest European settlers came.

Brookhaven, New York Town in New York, United States

The Town of Brookhaven is the most populous of the ten towns of Suffolk County, New York, United States. Part of the New York metropolitan area, it is located approximately 50 miles from Manhattan. It is the only town in the county that stretches from the North Shore to the South Shore of Long Island. It is the largest of New York State's 932 towns by area, and the second most populous after the Town of Hempstead.

Stony Brook Southampton is a campus location of Stony Brook University, located in Southampton, New York between the Shinnecock Indian Reservation and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on the eastern end of Long Island.

Charles B. Wang Center

The Charles B. Wang Center, located at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, is a building dedicated to understanding Asian and American cultures, and the interactions of these cultures with other world cultures. The center was completed in 2002, and was designed by P.H. Tuan. Building of the center was intended to be funded by Charles B. Wang through a $52 million donation to Stony Brook University, which was then the largest ever private donation to a school in the State University of New York system. Actual construction costs far exceeded the original donation, becoming a source of controversy among students and faculty at the time.

Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) is a public community college in Selden, New York. It is sponsored by SUNY and Suffolk County, New York. Suffolk County Community College was founded in 1959 and has three campuses: Selden, Brentwood and Riverhead. It also has two satellite centers in Sayville and downtown Riverhead.

Stony Brook University Hospital Hospital in New York, United States

Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH), previously known as Stony Brook University Medical Center, is a nationally ranked, 695-bed non-profit, research, and academic medical center located in Stony Brook, New York, providing tertiary care for the entire Long Island region. The medical center is a part of the Stony Brook Medicine Health System and is made up of four hospitals that include the Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children's Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. SBUH is affiliated with the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Long Island's only tertiary care and a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, the hospital is ranked as the 12th best in New York and 10th in the New York metropolitan area by U.S. News and World Report. The hospital campus also includes a rooftop helipad to better serve critical cases.

WUSB (FM) Radio station in Stony Brook, New York

WUSB is a non-commercial radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to Stony Brook, New York. The station is owned and operated by Stony Brook University, with studios located in Stony Brook University's Student Union building. WUSB is a Freeform radio station, staffed by more than 150 volunteers who devote their time and energy for the love of music and freeform radio. The station is partially listener-supported.

WLIW-FM is a radio station licensed to Southampton, New York and serving eastern Long Island and coastal Connecticut. Owned by WNET, it is a sister station to PBS member television station WLIW, and features programming from American Public Media, NPR and Public Radio International. The station also broadcasts in HD.

Stony Brook station (LIRR) station on the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road

Stony Brook is a historic station on the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located in Stony Brook, New York on the southeast side of New York State Route 25A, across the street from the intersection of Route 25A with Cedar Street. On the opposite side of the tracks is Stony Brook University. There is also a gated at-grade pedestrian crossing between the station and a parking lot at the University, one of only a few stations on the Long Island Rail Road to feature such crossings. The train station is located in the Three Village Central School District.

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital Hospital in NY, United States

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, centrally located in the Village of Southampton, New York, is a 125-bed hospital accredited by the Joint Commission. A location of Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is a New York State-designated Stroke Center and the home of the first Level III Trauma Center on the East End of Long Island. The hospital admits more than 6,000 patients annually and has about 25,000 emergency department visits each year. The hospital’s multidisciplinary approach to healthcare provides access to a wide variety of medical specialties for a full range of clinical services. The hospital officially became part of the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system on August 1, 2017.

Stony Brook Seawolves athletic teams of Stony Brook University

The Stony Brook Seawolves are the athletic teams of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, United States. The school competes at the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and participates in the America East Conference for all sports except football, in which they participate as an associate member of the Colonial Athletic Association, and women's tennis, which competes as an associate member of the Missouri Valley Conference. The official colors of the Seawolves are red, grey, and blue.

Samuel L. Stanley American pathologist

Samuel Leonard Stanley Jr. is an American educator, biomedical researcher and the president of Michigan State University. He formerly served as the president of Stony Brook University. Stanley is married to Ellen Li, a practicing gastroenterologist and active researcher.

Southampton Campus was a rail station located along the Montauk Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. Originally as a seasonal flag stop called Golf Grounds, it opened April 1907 to serve sites such as the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and National Golf Links of America and was closed in 1938.

Stony Brook Student Activities Center Student activity center at Stony Brook University, NY

The Stony Brook Student Activities Center is the main student activity center at Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New York located in the center of west campus as part of the Academic Mall. The center contains a Student activity ticket office, a central food court, two ballrooms, and a mid-size auditorium. It also has three floors of room-space for different activities. Many student offices are held here. In the past, before extensive renovations and expansion, the building housed most of the Biology Department and courses.

Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University Medical school in Stony Brook, Long Island, NY

The Renaissance School of Medicine (RSOM) is the graduate medical school of Stony Brook University located in the hamlet of Stony Brook on Long Island, New York. Founded in 1971, RSOM is consistently ranked the top public medical school in New York according to US News and World Report. RSOM is one of the five Health Sciences schools under the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system.

Stony Brook University is the largest residential campus in the State University of New York system, with approximately 54.5% of its students living on campus. Housing at Stony Brook is issued and controlled by Stony Brook University Campus Residences, which provides 9,445 spaces in its 11 corridor style buildings, 19 suite style buildings, and 23 apartment style buildings to Undergraduate students, Graduate students, and students' families. The large majority of on-campus housing is provided to students on the university's west campus, but housing is available to those on east campus, and for Stony Brook Southampton students.
