Many of the collectable Bots in Astro Bot reference specific characters from various PlayStation games, being referred to as "V.I.P. Bots". [1] [2] This was carried over from Astro's Playroom, which also boasted many PlayStation centric references.[ citation needed ] One reason for their inclusion is to bridge the gap between older and younger generations of gamers. Polygon Man was an early marketing character for Sony's PlayStation in North America.
