Telangana is a state in India situated on the centre-south stretch of the Indian peninsula on the high Deccan Plateau. It is the eleventh largest state and the twelfth-most populated state in India with a geographical area of 112,077 km2 (43,273 sq mi) and 35,193,978 residents as per 2011 census. On 2 June 2014, the area was separated from the northwestern part of Andhra Pradesh as the newly formed 29th state with Hyderabad as its historic permanent capital. Its other major cities include Warangal, Nizamabad,Khammam and Karimnagar. Telangana is bordered by the states of Maharashtra to the north, Chhattisgarh to the east, Karnataka to the west, and Andhra Pradesh to the east and south. The terrain of Telangana region consists mostly of hills, mountain ranges, and thick dense forests covering an area of 27,292 sq. km. As of 2019, the state of Telangana is divided into 33 districts.
Telangana region of Hyderabad State did consist of 8 Districts in 1948 when it was inducted in Dominion of India; they are Atraf-i-Baldah (Hyderabad), Mahbubnagar district, Medak district, Nalgonda district (Nalgundah), Nizamabad districts, Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Warangal districts. [2] Khammam district was created by bifurcation of Warangal district on 1st October 1953. [3] Andhra Pradesh was formed by merging Telangana region of Hyderabad State and Andhra state on November 1. Bhadrachalam division and Aswaraopet taluka parts was merged in Khammam district from Godavari districts for better Administration. [3] Hyderabad district was split into Hyderabad Urban District and Hyderabad Rural District on 15 August 1978.Hyderabad Urban District was made by 4 Talukas are Charminar, Golkonda, Mushirabad and Secunderabad Talukas which consist of only MCH area, Secunderabad cantonment and Osmania University. Hyderabad rural district was later renamed as Ranga Reddy District. [4]
Hyderabad State was a state in Independent India, formed after the accession of the princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union on 17 September 1948. It existed from 1948 to 1956.

Khammam, also known as Khammamett is the city in Khammam district of the Indian state of Telangana.It is the fourth largest city in the state.It is the headquarters of the Khammam district and Khammam mandal also. It is located about 193 kilometres (120 mi) east of the state capital, Hyderabad, 61 kilometres (38 mi) from Suryapet, 120 kilometres (75 mi) from Warangal and also it is located about 121 kilometres (75 mi) North of the Andhra Pradesh state capital, Amaravathi. The river Munneru flows on the western side of the city. As of 2011 census of India, Khammam urban agglomeration has a population of 2,62,255.However, on 19 October 2012, the civic body of Khammam was upgraded to Municipal corporation Post upgradation to corporation Khammam population is approximated to be 3,07,000.
Telangana carved out from with 10 districts from Andhra Pradesh. Seven mandals of Bhadrachalam division were given back to East Godavari district. [5] [6] 21 new districts were created on 11 October, which lead to 31 districts in Telangana. All districts were divided into minimum 2 to maximum 5 except Hyderabad district which was untouched. [7] Two new districts, Mulugu and Narayanpet were created on 17 February, taking the total number of districts to 33. [8] Narayanpet district has 11 mandals.
Narayanpet district is a district in the Indian state of Telangana. Narayanapet is the district headquarters. The district shares boundaries with Mahbubnagar district, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal districts and with Karnataka state. This district formed on February 17, 2019 after bifurcation of Mahbubnagar district.
In terms of area, Bhadradri Kothagudem is the largest district with an area of 7,483 km2 (2,889 sq mi) and Hyderabad is the smallest with 217 km2 (84 sq mi). Hyderabad district is the most populated district with a population of 39,43,323 and Mulugu is the least populated with 2,94,671. Telangana consist of 68 Revenue Divisions and 584 Revenue Mandals(Tehsil). [9]
Bhadradri Kothagudem district is a district in the eastern region of the Indian state of Telangana. The town of Kothagudem is the district headquarters. It was a part of the Khammam district prior to the re-organisation of districts in the state.
Hyderabad District is a district in the state of Telangana in India that contains a part of the metropolitan area of Hyderabad. It is headed by a district collector who is drawn from the IAS cadre and is appointed by the state government. It is the smallest of all the districts in the state, but has the highest human density. The district is a city district which means that it does not have a district headquarters. Old MCH area, which is central region of Hyderabad city comes under this district. It is a peaceful area in India where Muslims and Hindus live in Harmony and unity.

Karimnagar is a city and District Headquarters in the Indian state of Telangana. Karimnagar is a major urban agglomeration and fifth largest City in the state. It is governed by Municipal corporation and is the headquarters of the Karimnagar district It is situated on the banks of Manair River, which is a tributary of the Godavari River.It is the fourth largest and fastest growing urban settlement in the state, according to 2011 census. It has registered a population growth rate of 45.46% and 38.87% respectively over the past two decades between 1991 and 2011, which is highest growth rate among major cities of Telangana. It serves as a major educational and health hub for the northern districts of Telangana. It is a major business center and widely known for Granite and Agro-based industries.It is also called as "City of Granites"
Bhadrachalam is a census town in the Indian state of Telangana, Bhadradri Kothagudem district. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage town with an existence of the Bhadrachalam Temple of Lord Rama, situated on the banks of Godavari river. It is located 312 kilometres (194 mi) from east of state capital, Hyderabad,115 kilometres (71 mi) from Khammam, 165 kilometres (103 mi) from Rajamahendravaram, 177 kilometres (110 mi) from Suryapet, 180 kilometres (112 mi) from Warangal and 178 kilometres (111 mi) from the Andhra Pradesh State Capital Amaravathi.

Karimnagar district is one of the 33 districts of the Indian state of Telangana. Karimnagar city is its administrative headquarters. The district shares boundaries with Peddapalli, Jagityal, Sircilla, Siddipet, Jangaon, Warangal urban and Jayashankar Bhupalapally districts.
Ranga Reddy district, abbreviated as, R R district and also known as Cyberabad district and formerly known as Hyderabad Rural, is one of the 33 districts in the Indian state of Telangana. The district headquarters is located at Shamshabad. The district was named after the former deputy chief minister of the joint state of Andhra Pradesh, Konda Venkata Ranga Reddy. The district shares boundaries with Nalgonda, Yadadri, Hyderabad, Medchal, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Sangareddy and Vikarabad districts.
Warangal Urban District is located in the northern region of the Indian state of Telangana. The district headquarters are located at Hanamkonda.
Jangaon is a town and the district headquarters of Jangaon district in the Indian state of Telangana. It is also the mandal and divisional headquarters of Jangaon mandal and Jangaon revenue division respectively. It is about 85 kilometres (53 mi) from the state capital Hyderabad. It lies on the National Highway 163.
Mancherial is a Municipality in the Mancherial district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is both the district and administrative headquarters of Mancherial mandal in the Mancherial revenue division. It is located on the north banks of the Godavari River..It is located about 244 kilometres (152 mi) from the state capital, Hyderabad, 84 kilometres (52 mi) from Karimnagar and 155 kilometres (96 mi) from Adilabad.
Husnabad is a town in the Siddipet district of the Indian state of Telangana. It was a part of Karimnagar district before re-organisation of districts in the state. It is located in Husnabad mandal.
Godavari Valley Coalfield is located in the districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal in the Indian state of Telangana. It is the only coalfield in South India. It lies in the basin of the Godavari River.
Bhadrachalam revenue division is an administrative division in the Bhadradri Kothagudem of the Indian state of Telangana. It is one of the 2 revenue divisions in the district which consists of 8 mandals under its administration. Bhadrachalam is the divisional headquarters of the division. The Bhadrachalam Revenue Division was originally part of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh up to 1959, after which it was merged through GO No. 553 on 17 Nov 1959 into Khammam district. Ashwaraopeta was also part of West Godavari district up to 1959. It was merged in Telangana region after the formation of Andhra Pradesh State with 29 states. In 2014, it was re-merged in Andhra Pradesh State with 13 districts, after the formation of Telangana state for the completion of Polavaram dam project.
