Love Bug is a 2010 Philippine television drama romance anthology broadcast by GMA Network. It premiered on May 23, 2010 replacing Dear Friend . [2] The show concluded on September 19, 2010 with a total of 16 episodes. It was replaced by Reel Love Presents Tween Hearts in its timeslot.

Synopsis

With the success of weekly drama anthologies, television series, and drama series, and reality sitcoms GMA Network provides a Sunday afternoon anthology tackling love stories. It was shortly-lived, airing from May 23, 2010 to September 19, 2010. It is now renamed Reel-Love Presents. The show's name was derived from Jonas Brothers' song "Lovebug".

Jonas Brothers American pop rock band

The Jonas Brothers is an American pop rock band. Formed in 2005, they gained popularity from their appearances on the Disney Channel television network. They consist of three brothers: Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas. Raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, the Jonas Brothers moved to Little Falls, New Jersey in 2005, where they wrote their first record that made its Hollywood Records release. In the summer of 2008, they starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock and its sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. They also starred as Kevin, Joe, and Nick Lucas, the band Lucas in their own Disney Channel series Jonas, which was rebranded as Jonas L.A. after the first season and cancelled after the second. "Lovebug" is a song by the American rock band Jonas Brothers. It was released as the third official single off their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, on September 30, 2008. Lyrically, "Lovebug" is about being smitten by girl for the first time and attracting feelings for said girl from that moment. A music video was released to accompany the single and is a period piece romance that was inspired by The Notebook.

"The Last Romance"

A young athlete, Rackie Carla Abellana, meets Hero Dennis Trillo, a handsome young man. They fall in love aboard a cruise going to Hong Kong. Rackie has a terminal illness; Hero is a soon-to-be-wed groom and event organizer working his way to give his soon-to-be wife Iwa Moto the perfect life. Rackie and Hero's encounter makes them realize that love only comes once in a lifetime in all unexpected places. [3]

Carla Angeline Reyes Abellana is a Filipina actress and commercial model who played the lead role in the Philippine adaptation of the Mexican telenovela Rosalinda in 2009. She is also known for her lead role in Sine Novela: Basahang Ginto in 2009, Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Langit in 2011, Makapiling Kang Muli in 2012, My Husband's Lover in 2013, My Destiny in 2014, Because of You in 2015, Mulawin vs. Ravena and I Heart Davao in 2017, and her first anti-heroine role in Pamilya Roces in 2018.

Dennis Trillo Filipino actor

Abelardo Dennis Florencio Ho, more widely known as Dennis Trillo, is a Filipino actor, model and recording artist. Trillo is currently a contract star of GMA Network. He was known for his role as Eric del Mundo in the first ever gay-themed series on Philippine TV, My Husband's Lover aired on GMA Network in 2013.

Iwa Moto Filipina actress, model and reality television personality

Aileen Quimado Iwamoto, known by her stage name Iwa Moto, is a Filipina actress, model and reality television personality. She is the first runner up in the third season of StarStruck, a reality-based talent search show of GMA Network. She is well known for playing Rita Acuesta on Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap and Valentina in Darna. She was born to a Japanese father and Filipino mother.

This is the first time for the new StarStruck V competitors to enter a TV series. The production focuses on finalists in the next story about the tests and complicated world of love between young adults.

<i>StarStruck</i> (season 5) season of television series

The fifth season of StarStruck premiered on November 15, 2009. The show is hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, Carla Abellana and Dennis Trillo. Carla Abellana replaced Jolina Magdangal for this season, while Dennis Trillo replaced Dingdong Dantes, as the latter replaced Richard Gomez, who will run as representative of the 4th district of the Province of Leyte as host of the game show Family Feud. The members of the StarStruck Council are Lolit Solis, Floy Quintos and Iza Calzado act as the members of the Sunshine Dizon was first reported to be part of the Council in the place of Iza Calzado but had to turn down the offer due to health problems.

It starred Diva Montelaba, Sarah Lahbati, Steven Silva, and Enzo Pineda.

Hyacienth Diva Mantelaba, better known as Diva Montelaba, is a Filipina actress. She was one of the Final Five in the fifth season of StarStruck, a reality-based talent search show of GMA Network in the Philippines and finished as first runner-up.

Sarah Alzol Lahbati is a Filipino-Moroccan actress and reality show contestant who gained media attention as a finalist on the 5th season of StarStruck, a Philippine overall talent show broadcast on GMA Network. Lahbati declared StarStruck V's Ultimate Female Survivors after nine weeks of the competition. Together with Steven Silva, they each won P1.5 million cash prize and an exclusive contract with GMA Network, with a minimum guarantee of P3.5 million.

Steven Joseph Lao Silva is a Filipino-American footballer from Team Socceroo FC in the UFL Second Division. He is also an actor, chef, radio disk jockey, and the Ultimate Male Survivor of the fifth season of StarStruck. He is half-Portuguese, one-fourth Chinese and one-fourth Filipino. He is the first Mindanao representative and the oldest male contestant to win the said title.

The third episode starred Rich Asuncion, Chariz Solomon, Daniel Matsunaga and Kris Bernal.

Rich Asuncion is a Filipino actress who became the First Princess of StarStruck: The Next Level. Asuncion was also First Runner-up of Binibining Pilipinas 2009.

Charyze Pagotan-Solomon-Ng, better known by her screen name Chariz Solomon, is a Filipina actress and television personality, who is one of the hosts in the Philippine television program Startalk. She appears in several GMA Network programs.

Daniel Matsunaga Brazilian association football player

Daniel Kenji Silva Matsunaga is a Brazilian model, actor, professional footballer, host and businessman who became known in the Philippines by appearing in Cosmopolitan Philippines’ September 2009 "Cosmo Men" supplement. He was discovered in the Philippines as an actor and was first given TV drama projects on GMA Network. He also joined the reality TV show Pinoy Big Brother of ABS-CBN and was declared as the PBB All In big winner in 2014.

"Say I Do"

Alvin (Mark Anthony Fernandez) is madly in love with Faye (Lovi Poe). Feeling they are meant to be together, they decide to get married. Alvin wants his divorced parents to come together at the wedding. Chona (Carmi Martin) makes a scene and Ulyeses (Joey Marquez) decides to apologize for the dismay and commotion at the important event. Alvin just wants them to get along (but not be together) after his mother's heartache and hardships. Alvin and Faye go to the same phase as well as they start fighting. Will they realize that sometimes people who are meant to be together should be with the ones they love? Is love better the second time around?

The fourth episode aired August 29, 2010 to September 19, 2010.

Ratings

According to AGB Nielsen Philippines' Mega Manila household television ratings, the pilot episode of Love Bug earned a 9.9% rating. [4] While the final episode scored a 2.7% rating in Mega Manila People/Individual television ratings. [5]
