Henry Lémery was a politician from Martinique who served in the French National Assembly from 1914–1919 and the French Senate from 1920–1941. Lémery was briefly Minister of Justice in 1934. During World War II (1939–45) he was Colonial Secretary in the Vichy government for three months in 1940 before being dismissed, probably because the Germans disapproved of his mulatto ancestry.

José Nicolas Francisco Pablo Lemery é Ibarrola Ney y González, Marques de Baroja was a Spanish general who served as the 82nd Governor-General of the Philippines, 109th Governor of Puerto Rico, Deputy and Senator of Baleares. He was distinguished in his military and political career, striving for justice, equality and fair government in the positions he held.
