Mohammad Shahjahan is a retired two star admiral of Bangladesh who was formerly posted at National Defence College as Senior Directing Staff (Navy). Prior to that, he was the Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority. [1] [2] Earlier he served as the chairman of the Mongla Port Authority. [3] In previous he has also served as the Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard. [4] Member Blue Economy Cell

Career

Shahjahan joined the Bangladesh Navy on July 24, 1984, and received his commission on January 1 in 1987. [4] He is the ex-officio chairman of the executive committee of Chattogram Bandar Mohila College. [5]

On 11 March 2019, Shajahan was appointed the deputy director general of Bangladesh Coast Guard. [4]

On 9 April 2020, Shahjahan was promoted to Rear Admiral from commodore after he was appointed chairman of Mongla Port Authority on 8 April. [4] [6] In January 2021, Shahjahan was appointed chairman of Chattogram Port Authority from chairman of Mongla Port Authority. [3] He replaced admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad at the Chattogram Port Authority. [3] Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa replaced him as the chairman of Mongla Port Authority. [3] [7] Shahjahan announced plans to build a Bay Container Terminal at Chittagong Port. [8] He hosted Red Sea Gateway Terminal, a Saudi company, and the ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia, Mohammad Javed Patwari, to attract Saudi investment in the Patenga Container Terminal. [9] He expressed dissatisfaction at BM Container Depot Limited for their handling of the 2022 Sitakunda fire at their terminal. [10] He introduced and oversaw the first direct container to arrive from Europe. He gave the concept of transforming Matarbari Deep Sea Terminal into a transshipment hub. He increased the length to 200 m and draft to10 m for the vessel entering Chittagong Port. [11]

The CPA is part of the Ministry of Shipping.

He previously served as the Director of Coast Guard Operations and commander of Chittagong Naval Command (COMCHIT). He also served in Naval Headquarters as Director of Personnel Services and Secretary to the Chief of Naval Staff. Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) announced Ahmed's nomination to succeed Admiral Farid Habib. Ahmed began serving as the 15th Chief of Naval Staff on 27 January 2016.

Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU) (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ মেরিটাইম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) was established in 2013, the 37th public university of the country. It is the first maritime university in Bangladesh, the 3rd maritime university in South Asia and the 12th maritime university in the world. It has issued its first calls for admission in December, 2016. The BSc in Oceanography program was started on 3 January 2017 at the university's temporary campus in Mirpur, as part of the first-ever launch of the Bachelor class in the university. Then in 2018, the first batch of BSc in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering classes started. Two more program classes started in 2019. LLB in Maritime Law and BBA in Port Management and Logistics. 2020 BSc in Maritime Fisheries first batch admission and classes start.

Prior to join here, he was Commander of Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT). Prior to assumption of the Commander Chattogram Naval Area on 4 February 2020, he served as Chairman of Mongla Port Authority.

Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail (TAS), NUP, PPM, psc, BN was a former two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy. His last appointment was Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority. Prior to join here he was Chairman of Payra Port Authority. Before that, he was serving as the Director of Submarine at the Navy Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali, OSP, NPP, ndc, psc, BN is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy. He served as 15th director general of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. Prior to this appointment, he served as chairman of Mongla Port Authority and before that commander of Bangladesh Navy Fleet. He also served as director of naval intelligence (DNI) at Naval Headquarters. He elevated to the rear admiral rank from commodore on 25 January 2022.

Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi Civil Servant and former Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration. Prior to this appointment, he served as Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping and Local Government Division.

Mohammad Khaled Iqbal is a retired rear admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. He is the former chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.

Zulfiqur Aziz is a retired rear admiral of the Bangladesh Navy. He is the former chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.
