The Macfarlane River is a river of the southwest of New Zealand's South Island. It flows south from the Southern Alps, joining with the Landsborough River just before the latter's outflow into the Haast River.
The Beardmore Glacier in Antarctica is one of the largest valley glaciers in the world, being 200 km (125 mi) long and having a width of 40 km (25 mi). It descends about 2,200 m (7,200 ft) from the Antarctic Plateau to the Ross Ice Shelf and is bordered by the Commonwealth Range of the Queen Maud Mountains on the eastern side and the Queen Alexandra Range of the Central Transantarctic Mountains on the western. Its mouth is east of the Lennox-King Glacier. It is northwest of the Ramsey Glacier.
The Landsborough River is located in New Zealand's South Island. A major tributary of the Haast River, it flows southwest, parallel with the Southern Alps, for 50 kilometres from its source five kilometres north of Mount Hopkins to meet the Haast 12 kilometres below the Haast Pass.
The Catlins River flows southeastward through The Catlins, an area of the southern South Island of New Zealand. Its total length is 42 kilometres (26 mi), and it flows into the Pacific Ocean at the holiday settlement of Pounawea, 28 kilometres (17 mi) south of Balclutha. Its upper estuary is called Catlins Lake, and its lower estuary is shared with the Ōwaka River. The lower estuary is also known at Pounawea Estuary.
Liv Glacier is a steep valley glacier, 40 nautical miles long, emerging from the Antarctic Plateau just southeast of Barnum Peak and draining north through the Queen Maud Mountains to enter Ross Ice Shelf between Mayer Crags and Duncan Mountains. It was discovered in 1911 by Roald Amundsen, who named it for the daughter of Fridtjof Nansen.
The Edison River is a river of the Westland District of New Zealand. It arises in the Solution Range near Mount Elliot and flows north-west and north into the Mahitahi River.

Geologist Jeremy Kilner wrote his 2005 bachelor's with honours thesis at the University of Otago about this valley; the title of his thesis was: Geophysical survey of the Paringa River valley, South Westland.
The Waita River is in the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows generally west to reach the Tasman Sea 10 kilometres northeast of the mouth of the Haast River. The river has its source on the western flanks of the Mataketake Range and passes through dense native forest which opens up into farm land before passing under the State Highway 6. The Maori River is one of the tributaries of the Waita.

Bruce County was one of the counties of New Zealand in the South Island. The county's headquarters were in Milton. Its first meeting was on 4 January 1877 at the Milton courthouse. Clutha District Council began in November 1989 with amalgamation of Balclutha Borough, Clutha County, Lawrence Borough, Tapanui Borough, part of Tuapeka County and Bruce District Council. Bruce District Council had been formed in 1986 from Bruce County, Milton Borough and Kaitangata Borough.
Moubray Bay is a bay in the western Ross Sea, indenting the coast of Victoria Land, Antarctica, between Cape Roget and Cape Hallett. It was discovered in 1841 by Sir James Clark Ross and named by him for George H. Moubray, clerk in charge of the expedition ship Terror.
