Marechal Hermes is a planned working-class neighborhood located in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, founded on May 1, 1913. Surrounding neighborhoods include Bento Ribeiro, Campo dos Afonsos, Deodoro and Guadalupe. It takes its name after Brazil's former president Marechal Hermes da Fonseca.

Its designation is a homage to Our Lady of Guadalupe which main church in Rio de Janeiro is located in this neighbourhood. The neighbourhood was built as a project of former Casa Popular Foundation and it was inaugurated by president Getúlio Vargas. Are also notable in the neighbourhood the "Igloos of Guadalupe", a set of houses in hemisphere shape, looking like igloos, and built in the late 1940s on Calama street.

As of 2000, its HDI is 0.814; the 36th position of the city out of 126.

The Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. A country scores a higher HDI when the lifespan is higher, the education level is higher, and the GNI (PPP) per capita is higher. It was developed by Pakistani economist Mahbub ul Haq, with help from Gustav Ranis of Yale University and Meghnad Desai of the London School of Economics, and was further used to measure a country's development by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)'s Human Development Report Office.

It contains wide avenues, a theatre, a large hospital, a big church and several schools. Many of its original inhabitants were military men in view of the army and airforce headquarters nearby in Deodoro and Campo dos Afonsos respectively.
