Matthew C. Patrick (born April 1,1952 in New Brunswick,New Jersey) is a former Democratic politician who served as member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He represented the 3rd Barnstable District from 2001 to 2011. During his time on Beacon Hill,he was a leading progressive voice in the Massachusetts General Court. He was unopposed for re-election in the 2006 elections,but was defeated by Falmouth Town Moderator David Vieira in the 2010 general election. Vieira had previously run against Patrick when he was first elected in 2000.
In 2014,he ran for the Plymouth and Barnstable State Senate seat that was being vacated by outgoing Senate President Therese Murray,but was defeated by State Representative Vinny deMacedo. He ran for his former State Representative seat in 2016,and,though he won the primary election against Bourne Selectman Michael A. Blanton,he was narrowly defeated by Vieira in a general election rematch.
Patrick was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana from 1977 to 1979. [1]
Paul Douglas Coverdell was an American politician who served as a United States senator from Georgia,elected for the first time in 1992 and re-elected in 1998,and director of the Peace Corps from 1989 until 1991. Coverdell died from a cerebral hemorrhage in Atlanta,Georgia in 2000 while serving in the United States Senate. He was a member of the Republican Party.

A member of the Democratic Party,he ran for president in 1992. He won eight contests during the presidential primaries,but lost the nomination to Bill Clinton,who later won the general election. Born in Lowell,Massachusetts,Tsongas graduated from Dartmouth College,Yale Law School and the Kennedy School of Government. After working for the Peace Corps and as an aide to Congressman F. Bradford Morse,Tsongas successively won election as a city councilor and county commissioner.
Theodore S. "Ted" Celeste is an American businessman and former politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party. After serving in the Peace Corps,Celeste,the brother of former Ohio governor and U.S. ambassador Dick Celeste,ran for the U.S. Senate in 2000 and lost to the Republican incumbent Mike DeWine. In 2006,Celeste was elected State Representative of Ohio's 24th District,and served until 2012.
The 1986 United States Senate elections was an election for the United States Senate. Held on November 4,in the middle of Ronald Reagan's second presidential term,the 34 seats of Class 3 were contested in regular elections. The Republicans had to defend an unusually large number of freshman Senate incumbents who had been elected on President Ronald Reagan's coattails in 1980.
