The Malmedy massacre was a war crime committed by members of Kampfgruppe Peiper, a German combat unit led by Joachim Peiper, at Baugnez crossroads near Malmedy, Belgium, on December 17, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. According to numerous eyewitness accounts, 84 American prisoners of war were massacred by their German captors: the prisoners were assembled in a field and shot with machine guns.
Joshua Treadwell McCown is an American football quarterback who is currently a free agent. He played college football at SMU and Sam Houston State. McCown attended Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Texas, where he was named the East Texas Player of the Year and earned All-State honorable mention honors as a senior. He played three seasons for the SMU Mustangs of Southern Methodist University, where he passed for totals of 4,022 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions. He then transferred to play his final season of college football for the Sam Houston State Bearkats of Sam Houston State University. In his only season with the Bearkats, he threw for 3,481 yards, 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, earning Southland Football League Player of the Year and Third-team Division I-AA All-American honors.
Lucas Patrick McCown is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the Louisiana Tech University Bulldogs, and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and a brief stint with Dallas Cowboys. He is the younger brother of current New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown and former Texas A&M quarterback Randy McCown.
Robert Alan "Bob" McCown is an American Canadian radio personality who hosts the Canadian sports talk show of a late afternoon/early evening radio talk show called Prime Time Sports. The program is broadcast from the Toronto-based studio of the Fan 590 and is syndicated nationally in Canada. Since 2004, this radio talk show has also been simulcast on television on Rogers Sportsnet. Since 2009, the show's live stream has been available online in Canada on the FAN590 website.
