Television Telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images

Television (TV), sometimes shortened to tele or telly, is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting moving images in monochrome, or in color, and in two or three dimensions and sound. The term can refer to a television set, a television program, or the medium of television transmission. Television is a mass medium for advertising, entertainment and news.

BBC Two second television channel operated by the BBC

BBC Two is the second flagship television channel of the British Broadcasting Corporation in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. It covers a wide range of subject matter, but tends to broadcast more "highbrow" programmes than the more mainstream and popular BBC One. Like the BBC's other domestic TV and radio channels, it is funded by the television licence, and is therefore free of commercial advertising. It is a comparatively well-funded public-service network, regularly attaining a much higher audience share than most public-service networks worldwide.

CBeebies is a British free-to-air television channel owned and operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). It is aimed at young children, and was launched on 11 February 2002. It manages an international network supported by subscription services.

Balamory Scottish live action television series

Balamory is a British educational live action children's series on BBC One, BBC Two and CBeebies for pre-school children, about a fictional small island community called Balamory in Scotland. It was produced between 2002 and 2005 by BBC Scotland, with 254 episodes made. The series was created by Brian Jameson.

The series

The series follows six parents and their children including Rebecca, Jack, Kai and Lisa and a dog called Sampson who are apart during the day (except for Kai, who would go at night) as the children go to Granny Murray's and the parents go to work. At various points in the programme, the parent will think of their child and a 'think puff' will travel across the city to Granny Murray's.

The programme then alternates between what the parents are doing at work and what the children are doing with Granny Murray. One of the aims behind the series is to reassure children of working parents who go to childminders that their parents are always thinking of them. In addition, children get a view into an adult's working day (simplified and more entertaining than a real work day for children's benefit).

Each day's plot hinges on a problem that develops at work and the main character's "race against time" to sort it out. Granny Murray has always provided a kernel of wisdom during the programme's opening that helps in solving the problem. The programme features much usage of clocks and time, and hence also aims to teach young children to tell the time.
