As minor planet discoveries are confirmed, they are given a permanent number by the IAU's Minor Planet Center (MPC), and the discoverers can then submit names for them, following the IAU's naming conventions. The list below concerns those minor planets in the specified number-range that have received names, and explains the meanings of those names.

Maris Abele (1937–2022) was a Latvian astronomer and a designer of satellite tracking devices. He constructed the widely-used photographic satellite camera AFU-75 and several satellite laser-ranging telescopes that are used worldwide.
Rietavas is the capital of Rietavas Municipality in Lithuania. The city is famous for building the first power station to produce electricity in Lithuania in 1892. The first telephone line in Lithuania was also built there.
