Midhun Jith is a Marine Engineering Officer, Entrepreneur, Promoter and former two-time World Kickboxing Federation Champion who competes in the light heavyweight division. He is the only Indian to hold the World Kickboxing Championship and International Karate Championship at the same time, [1] [2] and he is the first Guinness World Record holder to win a World Kickboxing Federation World Championship. Jith won the World Kickboxing Championship at Zagreb, Croatia in 2013, and broke two Guinness World Records for the maximum number of martial arts kicks. [1] [3] Jith is a two-time International Karate Champion, Indo-Sri Lanka karate champion, seventeen-time National Karate Champion, twenty-one-time State Karate Champion, and three-time National Open fight champion. He won the Indian National Open Kickboxing Championship. He won the King of Kumite title in 2012.

Career in Martial Arts

Jith started his martial arts career at 7 years old with his younger brother Nithinjith. He trained in Shito-ryu Karate, and began to learn Taekwondo and Judo under koshy Gireesh PK (7th Dan Black belt) from an early age. [1] [2] [4]

His first achievement was in a Taekwondo district championship. He won gold in the championship. He won gold for judo at the District level in 2002. He won his first national level gold (India) in karate at the age of 10, [5] and held his first black belt at the age of 12, under P.K. Gireesh. Later, Jith won 18 consecutive National Championships in different styles, categories and federations. At the same time, he won 21 consecutive state championships. [5] After giving a walkover (since the opponent was equal to his master) for the National Open Final Fight (2007). In 2011 he won two International Karate Championships and two National Championships in Karate. [1] [2] [4]

Guinness World Records

On 25 June 2011, he earned his first Guinness world record-breaking attempt against Ahmad Husain from Pakistan for most martial arts kicks in 1 minute; he hit 288 kicks in one minute and broke the then-record of 190 kicks. [1] [2] [4]

Because of a problem with the video footage, Guinness records authorities requested he retries his attempt. Four months later Raul C. Meza from the United States broke Ahmad Husain's record with a new record of 281 kicks in one minute. [1] [2] [4] On 28 October 2011 Jith beat Meza's record with 310 kicks in one minute and also created his own Guinness World Record of 608 martial arts kicks in 3 minutes. [1] [2] [4]

World Kickboxing Championship

In 2012, Jith received an invitation from Golden Glory for training sessions at Golden Glory, Thailand where he was trained by Bas Boon among others. After Dutch kickboxing and Muay thai training from Golden Glory, he returned to India and joined the national kickboxing team by winning the national kickboxing championship. [1] [2] [4] He then won World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia in 2013.{{ [1] [2] [4] }} Jith was selected by the national team for the world championship three years in a row, and was selected for the world championships in the Czech Republic in 2014. Jith was the first Indian to achieve the trifecta of breaking the Guinness World Record, winning the International Karate Championship and the World Kickboxing Championship at the same time. [5]

Rick John Roufus is a retired American kickboxer. He is one of the most famous kickboxers in America, and has also competed professionally in boxing and mixed martial arts. An accomplished professional fighter throughout his competitive career Roufus has won multiple world championships across the globe in several weight classes, he was world champion as a super middle weight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. Roufus held titles for all the major kickboxing associations worldwide, and is known for his boxing skills and powerful kicks. Benny Urquidez American kickboxer, martial artist

Benny Urquidez is an American kickboxer, martial arts choreographer and actor. Nicknamed "The Jet", Urquidez was a non-contact karate competitor who later pioneered full-contact fighting in the United States. He made the transition from point to full-contact karate in 1974, the year of its inception in the US, frequently fighting in bouts where the rules were ambiguous and contrasts in styles were dramatic. Urquidez is also known for once holding the rare achievement of six world titles in five different weight divisions, and remained largely undefeated in his 27-year career. His only loss came in a Muay Thai match which was shrouded in controversy, as Urquidez had only agreed to a no-decision exhibition, a clause which was ignored when the fight had ended.

Dennis Raymond Alexio is an American former Undisputed World Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion who competed in the light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions. Starting out as a light heavyweight, Alexio kicked off his career with an extensive, knockout-laden undefeated streak before losing a decision to Don "The Dragon" Wilson in a World Kickboxing Association (WKA) World Super Light Heavyweight Full Contact Championship match in 1984. He rebounded from this by winning the Professional Karate Association (PKA) World Light Heavyweight title that same year before moving up to cruiserweight and taking the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) World Cruiserweight Full Contact strap. Carlos Newton Canadian mixed martial artist

Carlos Newton is an Anguillian-born Canadian retired mixed martial artist. He is a former UFC Welterweight Champion and Pride FC Japan MMA Legend. Known as "The Ronin", he competed worldwide in the biggest MMA organizations including UFC, Pride FC, IFL, K-1, Shooto and most recently W-1. He is a 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt alongside his coach Terry Riggs under Renzo Gracie, at Warrior MMA in Newmarket, Ontario. Maurice Smith (fighter) American kickboxer and mixed martial arts fighter

Maurice L. Smith is a retired American kickboxer and mixed martial artist. In kickboxing, he held the WKC world light heavyweight championship, the WKA world heavyweight championship, and the ISKA world heavyweight championship. In mixed martial arts, he held the Heavyweight championship in Battlecade Extreme Fighting and the UFC, and became a member of the UFC Hall of Fame in 2017. Bill Wallace (martial artist) American martial artist (born 1945)

William Louis Wallace is an American karateka and former professional kickboxer. He is known for his adept use of high-speed leg kicks, earning him the nickname "Superfoot." He was the Professional Karate Association (PKA) World Full-Contact Champion, and the Middleweight Kickboxing Champion for six years, retiring with a 23-0-0 record.

Joe Lewis (martial artist) American martial artist (1944-2012)

Joseph Henry Lewis was an American karateka, kickboxer, and actor. As a fighter, Lewis gained fame for his matches in the 1960s and 1970s, and was nicknamed "the Muhammad Ali of karate." Lee Hasdell is a British martial artist, promoter and former professional kickboxer and mixed martial artist. Hasdell is considered by many to be a pioneer of mixed martial arts in the United Kingdom, particularly in the 1990s, when he drove a great deal of innovation in the field. Zane Troy Frazier is an American former karateka, kickboxer and mixed martial artist who competed in the heavyweight division.
