Miika Huttunen

Miika Huttunen (also known as druidi Huttunen) is the editor-in-chief of the Finnish gaming magazine [1] Pelaaja . Prior to this he was a host of certain game-related television programmes primarily on the now defunct MoonTV cable channel. He became recognised for hosting Peliuutiset (Game News) and continued hosting related topics on the more important shows such as Player and PC-Peliluola. He also hosted URL, infamously one of the last 15-minute shows on the channel alongside current editor-in-chief of Pelaaja, Thomas Puha. Unlike all other shows that Huttunen was in, URL was dedicated to the showing off and reviewing and/or insulting of web sites sent by fans.

<i>Pelaaja</i> Finnish video games magazine

Pelaaja ("Gamer") is a Finnish video games magazine published 11 times a year by H-Town. Pelaaja turned 15 years old in 2017. Pelaaja covers both PCs and consoles, although between 2003 and 2007 it focused only on consoles. During that time the PC coverage was in a separate magazine named PCPelaaja, now defunct. Its editor-in-chief was Miika Huttunen, who is the current editor-in-chief of Pelaaja.

MoonTV

MoonTV was a free Finnish cable network channel. It started off as a channel for programmes about computer and video games but later grew into a channel covering several areas of youth culture. In its prime it was the first interactive TV channel in the world. At its best MoonTV could reach 1.3 million potential viewers in the 12 biggest cities across Finland. In 2003 the channel was shut down after the company that owned it filed for bankruptcy.

Huttunen would later appear as a regular host and critic on the show Play on Nelonen alongside Huttunen and fellow MoonTV host Elias Poutanen. Play was cancelled in 2005. In late 2007 he appeared alongside Puha on the game segments of the program Extra Large on YLE Extra.

Nelonen is a Finnish commercial TV channel. It started out as Helsinki's local television channel PTV in 1990 on the HTV cable network, and changed its name first to PTV4. On June 1, 1997 the channel expanded to become national and changed its name to Nelonen. Nelonen, in Finnish, means the glyph of the number four. The channel is mostly owned by Sanoma Corporation, which owns the Helsingin Sanomat and Ilta-Sanomat newspapers. Its largest owner was Aatos Erkko. Much of its programming is Australian, American, British, and European shows, with Finnish captions. Its main market is the 25-44 demographic.

Elias Poutanen was a host/computer-game critic who has worked for a magazine and for a number of related television programmes. Though officially a Finnish citizen, he was born in Australia.

YLE Extra

YLE Extra was a Finnish television channel owned and operated by Yle, the channel launched on 27 April 2007. It replaced YLE24. YLE Extra ceased broadcasting on 1 January 2008 and it was replaced by YLE TV1+, a temporary channel which broadcasts Yle TV1 with fixed subtitles.

Adam Sessler American television personality

Adam Michael Sessler is an American video game journalist, television personality and consultant. He is best known as the former co-host for the video game review series X-Play and the editor-in-chief for G4's video game section. Upon his departure from G4 in April 2012, Sessler was its longest tenured television personality, having originally been hired by its predecessor ZDTV in 1998.

G4 was an American digital cable and satellite television channel that was owned by G4 Media, a joint venture between the NBCUniversal Cable division of NBCUniversal and Dish Network. The channel was geared primarily toward young male adult viewers and originally focused on the world of video games, before transitioning to a more general entertainment format. G4 was headquartered in Los Angeles.

<i>Pelit</i>

Pelit ("Games") is a Finnish video games magazine published in Helsinki, Finland.

Tilt was a Finnish video games magazine published 10 times a year by Yhtyneet kuvalehdet OY. In the Finnish gaming magazine scene Tilt was a newcomer, challenging mainly the well-established Pelit magazine with another newcomer, Pelaaja. Tilt covered both PC and consoles.

Noel Fielding is an English comedian, writer, actor, artist, musician, and television presenter. He is known for being part of The Mighty Boosh comedy troupe alongside comedy partner Julian Barratt.

Brian Patrick Robert Dowling is an Irish television presenter. He rose to fame after winning the second series of reality series Big Brother, and went on to win Ultimate Big Brother in 2010. In 2007, he came third in Hell's Kitchen and in 2008, he was runner-up in the Irish reality television series Fáilte Towers. Dowling then guest-presented Live from Studio Five alongside Kate Walsh from 2010 until its cancellation in February 2011.

Jarno Sarkula Finnish musician

Jarno Sarkula is a Finnish musician and one-time TV-personality. In the music-business he is known as a member of the underground-band Alamaailman Vasarat, he also became known as a TV-persona on the free cable-channel MoonTV. Sarkula started out as the host of PC game-oriented shows such as PC-Peliluola, his best known program, and the in-depth gaming show PC-Planeetta (PC-Planet) which was split from the show Game Planet, after it was divided into two shows.

GameTrailers (GT) was an American video gaming website created by Geoffrey R. Grotz and Brandon Jones in 2002. The website specialized in multimedia content, including trailers and gameplay footage of upcoming and recently released video games, as well as an array of original video content focusing on video games, including reviews, countdown shows, and other web series.

<i>Tilt.tv</i>

Tilt is a Finnish video gaming programme aired primarily on MTV3. It started out in 1997 on MTV3 and was also seen on Sub, Jim, Fox and briefly on Nelonen. Currently the programme is aired on Kutonen. Tilt.tv was originally hosted by Jaana Pelkonen, who more recently hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki together with Mikko Leppilampi. After Jaana the host was Anna-Maija Jalkanen from 2005 to the spring of 2007 after Jalkanen the host was Kristiina Wheeler from 2007 to 2008, and after Wheeler the host was Anni Uusivirta from 2011 to 2013. The current host is Martina Kuitto. Simo Kurki hosted alongside Kuitto from 2013 to 2015. The show has had continuing success and has been exported to Poland and other countries.

<i>Destructoid</i> video game news website

Destructoid is a website that was founded as a video game-focused blog in March 2006 by Yanier Gonzalez. It is part of the Enthusiast Gaming network.

Revision3 was a San Francisco-based multi-channel Internet television network that created, produced and distributed Web television shows on niche topics. Founded in 2005, it operated as a subsidiary of Discovery Digital Networks since 2012. The network produced technology and gaming oriented programming in tandem with traditional comedic, political, DIY, and movie-related content. On March 31, 2017, Discovery Communications closed the website.

Rev3Games

Rev3Games was a web television channel owned by Revision3, a subsidiary of Discovery Digital Networks, with shows about video games. The channel launched on March 13, 2012. On November 12, 2012, Revision3 announced that it had hired Adam Sessler, a previous staff member of TechTV who had continued through to G4 to host the television series X-Play. Sessler was the editor-in-chief and executive producer of Rev3Games, until leaving Discovery Digital Networks in April 2014. The channel includes reviews and previews of upcoming games, interviews, and general discussion of video games. The channel's final hosts were Tara Long and Nick Robinson. Past hosts were Max Scoville, Scott Bromley, and Anthony Carboni. Discovery Digital Networks ended the operations of Rev3Games on November 6, 2014, for reasons that have not been disclosed.

Jukka Virtanen (director) Finnish writer, poet, translator, journalist, actor, director and singer

Jukka Jalmari Virtanen is a Finnish entertainer and author. He has worked as both a film and television director, actor and host. He is also an accomplished songwriter. Starting originally as a newspaper columnist, Virtanen began his television career in the 1950s and his film career in the 1960s.
