Millburn is a New Jersey Transit station in Millburn, New Jersey along the Morristown and Gladstone lines.
The Millburn station predates the town's formal incorporation and in fact dates back to 1837. It was one of the original stations served by the original Morris and Essex Railroad.
In 1837, the first steam locomotive to run along the M&E line made its trial run to Millburn (called "Millville" in that year). Unhappily, that particular excursion ended in tragedy as the train, in push mode for the return trip, derailed near Newark Broad Street Station, with two fatalities.
However, rail service eastward to Newark, and westward to Dover, proved a boon to the town—so much so that local historians credit the railroad as the chief impetus for Millburn's incorporation as a separate municipality in 1857. [9]
The Millburn station, built in 1906-07, is located at the intersection of Essex Street and Lackawanna Place near the southern entrance of South Mountain Reservation.
The station consists of two ground-level platforms and a single building on the eastbound (toward Hoboken and New York Penn Station) side. This building houses a waiting area and a ticket office, which is normally open on weekday mornings only. There are also ticket vending machines installed.
These platforms are low-level side platforms. Passengers boarding or debarking at this station must use the stairs on each car. Millburn station is not considered handicap-accessible.
The eastbound and westbound (toward Gladstone and Hackettstown) platforms are accessible from two concrete stairwells that rise from Lackawanna Place, next to the metal trestle that carries the tracks over Lackawanna Place. Passengers can also cross from one platform to another through a tunnel near the ticket office.
Parking is available in a large parking lot on the westbound side and in a lot adjacent to the parking lot of the Millburn Free Public Library on the far side of Lackawanna Place.

The Millburn Professional Building stands on the westbound platform, directly opposite the station building. This was probably one of the original station buildings but does not today house any New Jersey Transit offices. Another major office building stands directly west of the station building, nearer the Lackawanna Place trestle.
The Millburn Free Public Library is located across Lackawanna Place, and the Millburn-Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad is located on Glen Avenue on the north side of the station parking lot.
The station is also located near a thriving shopping and financial district. The Paper Mill Playhouse is within walking distance (0.4 miles). Several restaurants, offering a wide variety of cuisines, are located across Essex Street from the station.
The Gladstone Branch is a commuter rail line operated by NJ Transit from Gladstone station, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, to either Hoboken Terminal or New York Penn Station. It is one of two branches of the Morris & Essex Lines.
The Morristown Line is an NJ Transit commuter rail line connecting Morris and Essex counties to New York City, via either New York Penn Station or Hoboken Terminal. Out of 60 inbound and 58 outbound daily weekday trains, 28 inbound and 26 outbound Midtown Direct trains use the Kearny Connection to Penn Station; the rest go to Hoboken. Passengers can transfer at Newark Broad Street or Summit to reach the other destination. On rail system maps the line is colored dark green, and its symbol is a drum, a reference to Morristown's history during the American Revolution.
The New Jersey West Line Railroad was a proposed railroad running east and west across Northern New Jersey, of which the only part constructed was what is now the Gladstone Branch of New Jersey Transit between Summit and Bernardsville. Some other remains of it can be found in Summit, Millburn, and Union Township.
Morristown is a NJ Transit rail station on the Morristown Line, located in Morristown, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. It serves an average of 1,800 passengers on a typical weekday. Construction of the historic station began in 1912 and the facility opened November 3, 1913. A station agent and waiting room are available weekdays. Summit is a train station in Summit, New Jersey, served by New Jersey Transit's Morris & Essex Lines. The station sits between Union Place on the north and Broad Street on the south, with station access via either side, and between Summit Avenue on the east and Maple Avenue on the west. Constructed in 1904–1905 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad in a mile-long open cut, it is one of the few NJ Transit stations with platforms below street level.
Brick Church is an active commuter railroad station in the city of East Orange, Essex County, New Jersey. The station, one of two in East Orange, is located next to the Temple of Unified Christians Brick Church, designed with brick architecture. The other station, located 0.6 miles (0.97 km) to the east, is the namesake East Orange stop. Trains from the station head east on New Jersey Transit's Morristown Line and Gladstone Branch to New York Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal while westbound trains service stops out to Gladstone and Hackettstown. Like its sister station, Brick Church contains three tracks and two platforms. However, it is not accessible for the handicapped.
Orange is an active commuter railroad train station in the city of Orange, Essex County, New Jersey. One of two stops in the city, it is served by New Jersey Transit's Morris and Essex Lines: the Morristown Line to Hackettstown and the Gladstone Branch to Gladstone for trains from New York Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal. Orange station contains two low-level side platforms and three tracks.

The former segment of Springfield Avenue on the opposite side of the tracks has been turned into an additional parking lot.
Madison is a NJ Transit station in Madison, New Jersey, United States, along the Morristown Line. The station was built in 1916 after the local government passed an ordinance for $159,000 with the cooperation of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad in the planning of the depot. Mrs. D. Willis James financed much of the road grading caused by the track elevation. The tracks were elevated through the downtown and no established roadways were hindered by crossing delays. The station included baggage and cargo facilities readily accessible by wagons as well as the stationmaster offices, a newsstand, and waiting facilities featuring extensive banks of high-backed wooden seating. Weeping Mulberry trees were planted among the landscaping and in natural areas in the parking area. In 1984, the station was listed in the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places as part of the Operating Passenger Railroad Stations Thematic Resource.

Roseville Avenue was a transfer station on New Jersey Transit's Morris & Essex Lines in Newark, New Jersey, United States. The station was built by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad in 1903 as part of a project to lower the tracks below the road surface to eliminate grade crossings. It serviced Newark's Roseville neighborhood. It once had two tracks on the Lackawanna mainline and two low-wall platforms, with an additional platform along the Montclair Branch. The station remained in service during most of the 20th century, until New Jersey Transit closed the station on September 16, 1984.
