The 54th Annual Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant was held at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum on October 22, 2008, in Hato Rey section of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A record of 70 contestants competed for the crown, in which the competition was televised live by WAPA-TV. On October 11, 2008, the show entered its final stage when twelve finalists elected by the public remained.

Anderson represented Puerto Rico at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant and finished as 1st Runner-Up. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 edition of the national pageant was cancelled, resulting in 1st Runner-Up Estefanía Soto of San Sebastián representing Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2020 where she finished in the Top 10.
