Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani is the Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry. He was appointed as minister on 19 October 2021. [1] [2]
Until 2012,Al Thani worked as Director of the Risk Management Department at the Qatar Central Bank. [1] [3]
From 2012 to 2017,he was the Secretary of the Personal Representative of Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. [4]
From 2018 until 2021,Al Thani served as Deputy-Governor and Vice-Chairman of Qatar Central Bank and Deputy Chairman of the QFC Regulatory Authority. [1] [5] Between November 2018 and October 2021,he was Chairman of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority. [1]
Since October 2021,Al Thani has worked as the Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry. [2] He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Investment Authority. [6]
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani is a member of the ruling Al Thani Qatari royal family. He was the ruling Emir of Qatar from 1995 until 2013 when he abdicated the throne,handing power to his fourth son Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani who was born to his second spouse,Moza bint Nassir. The Qatari government refers to him as the Father Emir.

He was born in 1880 in Doha,the capital city of Qatar. He then abdicated in favour of his crown prince and second son,Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani,in 1940. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Ahmed Al Thani is a Qatari businessman. He is from the Qatari ruling family and a distant relative of Qatar's previous ruler Sheikh Hamad. He owns the Spanish Segunda División football club Málaga CF as well as several thoroughbred racing horses.
