Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is a 2008 video game in the Monster Hunter franchise for PlayStation Portable and iOS. It is an expansion of the original Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and was released on March 27, 2008 in Japan as Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G(モンスターハンターポータブル 2nd GMonsutā hantā pōtaburu 2nd G).

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has more missions, equipment, and monsters than Monster Hunter Freedom 2, and a new feature is a Felyne fighter to help the player on their quests. Rarity 9 and 10 armor and weapons were added, the player can now hold up to 99 of each item type in his/her item box, store up to 20 equipment sets, and get ten equipment pages instead of six. A new type of quest, the "Epic Hunting Quest", was introduced, which will enable the player to take on, one by one, up to 4 different monsters in one quest, as shown in the released demo. Weapons can now have up to purple sharpness which is higher than white sharpness. The player can now accept HR 7-9 quests in the gathering hall and new elder quests outside the gathering hall from a felyne beside the village elder. The downloadable content can give the player special armor for their felyne along with early unlocks for some of the felyne skills. The introduction of new monsters such as the Ukanlos have been put into the game with even more creatures than the last version of Monster Hunter Freedom 2 on the PSP system.
On November 6, 2008, the beta version of a new online service allowing voice chat and gameplay via tunneling PSP AdHoc mode to work same way as infrastructure mode does, through the PlayStation Network (and a LAN connected Wi-Fi capable PlayStation 3) was released on the Japanese PlayStation Store. Adhoc Party for PlayStation Portable beta version is compatible with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

In the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, it was announced that the game would be released in North America as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in Spring 2009.At the 2009 GDC, the release date was further specified as June 23, 2009. The United States and the Australian demo are available for free on the PlayStation Network on the PSP as of May 21, 2009. Capcom has announced that the PSP bundle would be released in Europe, but were not specific about anywhere else. A press release at Capcom's European Press Center website states that the bundle would contain "a specially designed Monster Hunter branded PSP skin and pouch along with a copy of the game." As for the release in Japan, there was a special edition PSP bundle which included the game, a strap, and a decorated Matte Bronze PSP. In addition to this bundle, people who pre-ordered the game also received a black, hairy strap. The hair on the strap was meant to be that of a monster exclusive to the game, the Nargacuga.
Tokyo Game Show, commonly known as TGS, is a video game expo / convention held annually in September in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. It is presented by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. The main focus of the show is on Japanese games, but some international video game developers use it to showcase upcoming releases/related hardware. The duration of the event is four days. The first two days of Tokyo Game Show are open only to industry attendees (business) and the general public can attend during the final two days.

Although no longer available, Capcom had created the Encyclopedia Gigantica, a website for newcomers to the Monster Hunter series. It had included tutorial videos, images of monsters, forums and more. This website has been shut down.
Capcom was also holding a temporary Gathering Hall between the 3rd of July and the 1st of September in London, Charing Cross, for all Unite players to play in a campaign to make the franchise more popular in the West to see future titles to be released overseas. Capcom's Monster Hunter Freedom Unite website, as well as Encyclopedia Gigantica, are sending out demo copies of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to anyone who registers for one.
This demo has a set equipment list for each of the weapon categories, and the player may also select between three felyne helpers to join the player. The player may choose between three quests, totaling about 2 hours of game time.
An iOS version was released in 2014. With the release of iOS 9, the game lost compatibility and Capcom initially announced no plans to update the game, later removing from the App Store.However, it later returned with fixed compatibility.

No official numbers on American sales have been released at this time. In Japan, as of December 2008 the game has sold 2.5 million copies on the PSP, and as of December 2009, the Best Edition of 2G sold 1 million copies. As of June 30, 2014, the game has sold 3.6 million copies worldwide on the PSP, making it the third best-selling game on the PSP.

The game's aim is to complete quests given by various people in the goal of attaining higher and more prestigious hunting ranks. However, this game contains many changes in order to allow playing through most quests alone. It was criticized for its unusually long loading-screens and its slow pacing, both of which have been improved in the sequel.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (モンスターハンターポータブル3rd) is a game in the Monster Hunter franchise for the PlayStation Portable system that was released in Japan on December 1, 2010. The game was released, as a part of the PlayStation Portable Remaster series, on PlayStation 3. The game introduces new regions, monsters, and a revised Felyne combat system. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is not an update to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite or Monster Hunter Tri. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is instead separate to the rest of the series, and most of the game has been entirely remade. However, it is also a successor to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite as the third game in the Portable series.
Monster Hunter Diary Poka Poka Airou Village is a spin-off installment in the Monster Hunter series, developed by FromSoftware and published by Capcom for the PlayStation Portable. It was released in Japan on August 26, 2010. The word airou is the Japanese equivalent of felyne, a fictional sapient cat species that appears in the Monster Hunter games. The player gives orders to the felynes to progress to the end of quests instead of having direct control over them. The game uses a more cartoonish art style as opposed to the realism seen in other Monster Hunter: games. More emphasis is placed on style and village management. A few Hello Kitty items are also available in the game.

First released in 2007, the game is a prequel to the 1997 video game Final Fantasy VII and is a part of the metaseries Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which includes other products related to the original game.
Monster Hunter 4 is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Capcom. It is the second game in the Monster Hunter series to be released on the Nintendo 3DS. Originally released in Japan on September 14, 2013. On January 26, 2014, an enhanced edition titled Monster Hunter 4G was announced for release in Japan on October 11, 2014, and allowed players to utilize Monster Hunter 4 save files. This version was released in North America and Europe as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on February 13, 2015. The new version of the game was released alongside New Nintendo 3DS in all regions except Australia, and in addition to the separate game release, it is available bundled with a 3DS XL variant of the newer console model.
The Felyne is a fictional species of anthropomorphic cats in the Monster Hunter video game series developed by Capcom. They are the most common members of a diminutive race known as the Lynians that also includes the Shakalaka. They accompany player characters, or "hunters", and act as AI-controlled backup. Felynes who partner with a hunter are known as Palicoes and wear miniature suits of armor. Felynes have become a popular mascot for the series, and have featured in spin-off games, many cross-promotions with other Capcom and non-Capcom video games, and various Japanese consumer products.
Monster Hunter Generations is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo 3DS. Announced in May 2015, the game was released in Japan in November 2015 and internationally in July 2016. Like other titles in the Monster Hunter series, players undertake quests that involve hunting dangerous creatures. Major additions in this installment include special attacks, new combat styles, and the ability to play as Felynes, who has traditionally only appeared as a companion to the player. An expanded version of the game, titled Monster Hunter XX, was announced in October 2016, and was released exclusively in Japan in March 2017. A HD port of the expansion for the Nintendo Switch, titled Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, was released in Japan in August 2017 followed by a worldwide release in August 2018.
Monster Hunter Stories is a role-playing video game developed by Marvelous and published by Capcom. It is a spin-off title set within the Monster Hunter series. The game was released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console on October 8, 2016, and was released in North America, Europe and Australia in September 2017. A mobile version of the game was released on December 4, 2017 in Japan and September 25, 2018 worldwide. Unlike any of the previous titles in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Stories lets players take on the role of a Rider instead of a Hunter, and are able to battle in a role-playing turn-based system. Major additions in this installment include hatching eggs and befriending monsters, battling alongside them, executing special Bond attack moves, and customizing monsters' abilities and appearance. The game features support for Amiibo figurines, with a first set launching alongside the game, and a second set launching two months later. A similarly named anime series is a loose adaptation of this game.
Monster Hunter: World is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. A part of the Monster Hunter series, it was released worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018, with a Microsoft Windows version in August 2018. In the game, the player takes the role of a Hunter, tasked to hunt down and either kill or trap monsters that roam in one of several environmental spaces. If successful, the player is rewarded through loot consisting of parts from the monster and other elements that are used to craft weapons and armor, amongst other equipment. The game's core loop has the player crafting appropriate gear to be able to hunt down more difficult monsters, which in turn provide parts that lead to more powerful gear. Players may hunt alone, or can hunt in cooperative groups of up to four players via the game's online services.
