The Montenegrin Football Championship (Montenegrin: Prvijenstvo Crne Gore) was the only football league competition in Montenegro (then Zeta Banovina), during the Kingdom of Yugoslavia era. Championship existed from 1925 to 1940, under the names Prvijenstvo Zetske i Primorske banovine (1922-1930) and Prvijenstvo Cetinjskog nogometnog podsaveza (1930-1940). [1] [2] [3]

From 1922 to 1930, championship was the third level of football in Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In period 1930-1940, Montenegrin Football Championship, under the Cetinjski nogometni podsavez (Cetinje Football Association) was the second-tier league competition in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

Founded in 1925, Budućnost was the Montenegrin club with most appearances in the Yugoslav First League, debuting in 1946. Due to the city being renamed during the communist rule in Yugoslavia, Budućnost was known as Budućnost Titograd throughout that era. Since Montenegrin independence in 2006, the club has won three Montenegrin First League titles and one Montenegrin Cup. They are the Montenegrin club with the most games and seasons in European competitions, winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1981.
The team produced many European top-class players among whom are the UEFA Champions League winning strikers Dejan Savićević and Predrag Mijatović.

Montenegro was independent from the late middle ages until 1918, when it declared its union with Serbia and, subsequently, became part of various incarnations of Yugoslavia and the state union of Serbia and Montenegro. Prva Crnogorska futsal Liga is the highest-ranked futsal league in Montenegro. It is governed by the Football Association of Montenegro and it is played under UEFA and FIFA rules. It was founded in 2006 and as of 2019–20 season, the league consists of 10 teams.
